Old Hot Toys Alien Big Chap--Durability and Value?

I'd just like to know from people that have the Hot Toys Alien Big Chap figure, how has this figure held up since release and is it really worth the $500 plus that foreign sellers are asking for it?

I've got one second hand and there are no quality issues. I've had it for a couple years. It could be more accurate, but it can look pretty good in the right pose. I wouldn't pay $500 for it though, unless I were rich.
I'd suggest waiting awhile to see what happens after ripley comes out. They may make a new one.

I agree.....the figure is nowhere close to being as accurate as any of hot toys' human sculpts....and I own one.
It was okay when it was released, but left much to be desired.

Mine's still in good shape. I'm no xenophile, but it looks pretty good to me. Plenty "alieny".

The rubber's still nice and soft, no cracking, no paint problems. Not bad for a 6 year old rubber figure. Sometimes HT do get it right.

Mine is fine too, but not worth 500 at all. I would wait a see for more v2

I got mine second hand about 1.5 years ago. It is fine but I keep in an a neutral pose in the Detolf and don't mess with it. I agree with ^ these guys. Wait to see what HT has in store for the line. I'm personally rooting for 2.0 Marines and Xenomorphs.

Don't bother with it. The face is completely off and odds are HT will make another one to accompany Ripley.

Get the Medicom big chap. More accurate sculpt and slightly cheaper. I have both and would keep the Medicom if I could only choose one.

This is why NECA needs to reconsider 1:6. The best Alien sculpts out there and only available as an 8'' figure with crappy paint and QC or, if we're lucky 18 inches.

No issues with mine, got him a year ago used but only for 250 shipped so I wouldn't pay 500+. Only thing is the tongue mechanism never worked (its jammed) and I'm not willing to try to force it out. Its not a big deal since its not the most accurate tongue anyway.

if you can pass about the annoying joints..
the best aliens are the warrior (first vers and the dog..)
the rubber in my warrior is in perfect shape since from the release..
the joints don't .. I ve removed them all and I make new post by myself for all the ball joints..
in my opinion the chap ailen is not worth the money..for the most the headsculpt..

I wish I could state this in very thread I go to. There's some non accurate people like my self , that do live. I read all the comics and do love a good looking predator and alien. Don't put a label on it and it's a sweet alien . I wish I had more, but for 500$ pass. But I got two still for the retail back in the day

For $500(or possibly cheaper) you can get the SS Chap 1/6 statue, you can't change pose, but it looks great and won't have any rubber issues.

Many of the uber fans will attack the figure for the inaccuracies , but its a great looking figure. One of the best HT has put out. Ive had no rubber issues with it at all, and i check it once every few months. As for the medicom is not to scale. If you can get it at a good price, pick it up. As for a new version? no one knows. As soon as the Ripley's where shown peeps start to jump the gun about marines, a queen, etc..... with HT, i wouldnt bet the farm on it, lol

Agreed. While I consider myself to be very picky when it comes to accuracy, the details on the HT is pretty amazing and still very gigeresque.

But if your going for the most faithful to the film then medicom fo sure. The 1/6 sideshow has it's issues on the dome as well.
