Interesting to read that Gosling wasn't the first choice surprisingly, it was Chris Evans.

Really? What are they saying?

I really find it hard to believe. I did hear that it got booed at Cannes. I think this is meant to be an ultra violent film.

"soullless," "suffocating," "pretentious" and "despicable." to name a few. :lol

So I've seen the movie and even with the reviews and such, I kept an open mind, but wow, I don't think it's a movie I could sit through again.

Spoilers:

Saw it too Lolll... I kinda like it. Dark and poetic. This is a twisted fable on the oedip concept. The mom represent the Devil and the vengeful policeman is god.... Thats why only god forgives, the cop offers him redemption by cutting his hands... The hands that killed his own father.

My kind of movie, but I definity understands why 99.9% of movie goers will hate it.

Again, in this movie, the music is its own character. Superb.

This can be rented on Itunes and Demand if anyone is wondering.

Yea I just watched it, definitely not a crowd pleaser that's for sure. If you watch it and like it, which I did like it, it's probably only because it's so beautiful to look at. I thought drive looked nice, this took the visuals to another gear. Unfortunately the execution of the story kind of kills the enjoyment of the film. It's far to random and at times quite boring, but it is jammed pack with visual metaphors, almost to much which make it feel random.

At the end of the day, there's not much to take from this than an exercise in photography. It's like a collage of the most twisted beautiful photography you can find and stitched together to try and form a story.

I love slow movies. But I hate movies where people are slow.

Beautiful cinematography, great music. Couldn't find a single thing to enjoy aside from that. Little to no characters, or solid narrative. Which...could be fine. But there was just nothing I was invested in. I had no idea what Gosling was until the middle of the film. I had no idea who he was, or why he existed. Eh. Really, really, disappointed by this movie.

Just lots of scenes of people looking at stuff. It reminded me of Fire Walk With Me...but I enjoyed Fire Walk With Me more.

But at the same time...I don't hate it. I don't know. I'll think on it.

I really want to see this for myself, despite the bad "critic" reviews it's getting. Too bad It's not playing in any theaters in my area.:gah:

That's pretty much the perfect review right there.

I rented it on Itunes. it's also on demand. If you have an Itunes account you can watch it, 7 bucks. glad I didn't see it in the theater, nothing I would have gained from that.
