Opinions on current market prices for grails....

Hey guys. I just wanted to see what everyone's opinion was on the Grails that are currently on sale out there... And "non-mint" ones in particular. I've been watching some PF Doom figures and they've been fetching a LOT! ($900-$1k for reg and $1200-$1900 for exc!!!)

This particular one had a small blemish on the knee.... (https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=190245627161) Of course this sold for less than the average market price for a REG PF Doom ($685), but how much would you guys pay for a PF grail that may have a blemish or two? IMO, I wouldn't pay TOO much above retail since it isn't perfect, ya know? I mean, if I'm going to be paying SUPER PREMIUM prices on a statue it BETTER be in SUPER PREMIUM condition!!! (No offense to the seller, because they were honest about the sale But it still sold for a pretty penny)

I got my Doom Ex. for $1205 after shipping probably close to over a year ago by now. It has a small blemish on the right bicep, seller fully disclosed condition and I bought it without hesitation. It's there if you look for it, but it hardly detracts from his awsomeness. I think it may subtract maybe $100 from overall value, but not much more; that's just a guess though. I think some Doom statues suffered from paint rubs similar to mine and the black finish below the silver paint showed through, most likely due to rubbing during shipping. If I ever sell him (highly unlikely), I will be sure to use plenty of tissue paper to prevent further rubbing.

Yeah, I didn't get this one.... I was reluctant because of the blemish. But it DEF sold for much less than average market value

Forget the regular version - get the exclusive.

With the amount of money you'll realistically pay for a Doom, you might as well go for an exclusive IMHO. This was a great deal but definitely not the norm.

yeah, if you can afford a reg edition, then most likely you can afford the ex. and if you have to stretch for it buy the ex. if you don't, you'll always know that there is always a better statue out there that you could of bought instead. you will always wish you did, if you buy the regular.

don't forget though, everyone always says could of bought it for this much. WRONG. the only person that bought it for this much is the person that actually purchased it. you don't know if he could of had a max bid of $750-$850 or even $950. in which case you would of had to pay alot more than the actual sale price. it always sells for more if you bid on it. duh, no ^^^^^ eh

Not really. I have the reg and Im perfectly happy with it. I dont have any desire for the Ex, esp. at an extra $500+

I dont need to have a pimp cup. I dont need to have a Stark Head. Dont need to have a grey Hulk. Most EX's I can honestly live without.

Granted I don't own a Doom, but I would definitely go for an Exclusive. Like The Mike was saying, since the regulars go for high dollar to begin with, you might as well go for an Exclusive. (And I do understand that's a lot easier coming for someone like myself who's not ready to shell out $1500 just yet. ) I have a few other PFs to round up first, but I'll be coming for a Doom in the future.

Only baddie I have is Red Skull but Ex. is the way to go. Value-wise they rise above (with the exception of Punisher) and you have display options you won't get with the regs.

Boy I'm glad I don't want Doom this late in the game...

I was never interested in some of the exclusives...never liked the EX Iron Man, only bought a Grey Hulk because I got it for a steal....same with my Spidey Vs Hulk....it's the Green EX not the Grey...I can easily live with that because, again, I got it for a good price and it's a superb piece, at times I like it more than my EX Sentinel #1.

Amen brother. There is no way that I could justify a purchase like that to myself. I think some people just get caught up in the hype. I can almost get two american gold eagles for $1500 bucks. I love the Marvel Sideshow line but not to the point where I will pay $1500 for a single piece.

I agree with Mesa on this one, man thats a deal, very minor blemish that wouldn't of bothered me at all!

The only Marvel PF EX that I feel the exclusive is a must to have is the Captain America It completely changes the whole statue!!!!

I agree, I have the IM ex and I never display it with the Stark head (looks silly in an action pose + the helmet is great).
As for Cap I like the option of displaying the modern look with the army helmet which I prefer much more than the Ultron head.
