Opinions on Gandalf PF?

I really didn't want this piece too bad. Somehow I managed to win one on ebay. I sometimes snipe things that I know I would lose or get cheap and be worth it. I bid 125.00 and it sold for 124.51! I would have rather had the exclusive, but at that price I can't complain. My question is to the people who have had him displayed for awhile. Does he look nice displayed with the baddies? I have no fellowshippers as of now. Does the regular suck that bad as to why they go so cheap? I am worried I will be let down on this one. All the Gandalf threads are pretty old, and I just wanted a few opinions from folks who have been looking at him for awhile.

I had the Reg. Gandalf PF for about six months on display and I thought it was really excellent...great tailoring and sculpt and it sounds like you got a great bargain!

As for it displaying well with baddies? I had it near the Lurtz PF and it certainly didn't look bad for it, not sure if it complimented it though

It seems like a decent deal, ebayers need to watch how the title their auctions. Here is what the title was..

Great find For that price this PF is an absolute steal

I personally don't care for the regular too much, having Glamdring in his hand is much better than the empty hand pushing his cape back; but that price is pretty unbeatable - you got a good one.

Yeah, that is going to bother me. All my baddies are EX. I am having buyers remorse, I expected to lose the auction.

I got the regular, as I didn't want to succumb to "exclusive fever" with a PF line, and I got him way late for a good price. I don't miss him holding Glamdring. I've got him next to Galadriel, so they look good together in "non-combat" poses. He may look like he is under-reacting to the threat at hand, posing him with villians though!

Well I have the Ex, he was the very first PF that I got. I think he's really underrated, sure the likeness isn't perfect, but the tailoring is outstanding and overall it looks great. I prefer him with Glamdring, but the regular pose looks really nice too. I don't have him displayed with any baddies, I have him next to Aragorn right now, but I think you'll be happy with it. Congrats on getting it for such a great price man!!

i think he's a nice piece not the greatest, but one thing about this hobby is that if you're not happy with something then you can always sell him for close to, or more than you paid.

personally the tailoring of the clothes more than makes up for the short comings of the facial likeness.
at least if someone sees him they know who he is. not like some of the other human pf's that ssc has done.

I am going to open my Lurtz EX later tonight I just received. Gandalf has Zero chances of following him up I am afraid. But, I could get five Gandalfs for what I paid for Lurtz.

I have another question regarding this PF. Is the EX. just a hand that holds the sword? or is it a hand and sword? Is the non EX. hand removable? I was thinking I might be able to sculpt a hand myself to get a poor mans EX.

I think he's great, and $125 is a ridiculously low price. You can't even get a Hot Toys figure for that.

Very underated piece I think. I got the ex and the only real issue I had was the 'plastic' looking Glamdring. Apart from that I think it looks excellent and captures the White Wizard's grim determination well. Good buy!

I'm very pleased with mine. I have him posed with Galadriel in a sort of Grey Havens setting.
