I did like '28 Days Later' - that was great.

'The Walking Dead' is also excellent, but it's just a great production anyway.

I actually haven't seen any of those Romero sequels.

There was also another (Canadian?) film I liked from a few years back, that was to do with a bunch of loggers out in some remote location, chopping down trees for some corporation, & the sap had some virus in it that turned people if they were infected by it.

There were protestors out there as well, & it all went pear shaped pretty quick. Sections of the forest were quarantined, & little communities of survivors spread out over time. The loggers made a fortress to keep out the infected, & had zombies chained up & fighting each other for sport.

I think the film's title was the virus number or something.

I'm all for this. It's always funny how people say, "do we need another zombie movie?". I don't ever see those comments attributed to any other genre. Yea, let's just stop making zombie movies. Here's a pro tip. If you've had enough of them, don't watch them anymore. Problem solved.

I say that about Vampire movies all the time.

I'm all for zombie movies but this is stupid.

First, they will ruin the mystery of what the origin of the virus is. Something that has extended itself as a joke/reference in other classics like Return of the Living Dead and Shaun of the Dead.

Second, the original is 50 years old. The idea of making a prequel with far superior effects and make up doesn't make sense in context.

Third, it reeks of a kid trying to cash in on his dad's success to make money instead of being original or remotely talented on his own. It's like if Sofia Coppola made a Godfather prequel instead of Lost in Translation.

Maybe it will ruin the mystery for you, but I'm sure most people want new movies, or should they never make anything again?
Your point about not making a prequel for a movie 50 years old is strange. Making a prequel has no affect on the original. It doesn't change the original on any level.

Your third point is pure speculation. It's not stupid at all, IMO. So, his son is trying to carry on in his dad's footsteps. Oh the horror! I guess anytime anyone wants to follow in their parents footsteps, it's a cash grab? C'mon, that's just ridiculous. The movie could suck, but he has every right to try to create something new, with his dad's blessings.

As with any subject, if you don't like something, steer clear of it.

"Most people" don't care about Romero or his cult classic trilogy.
They just want more zombie movies because that's today's trend.

Yes it will, because "most people" would think that it's canon to the original no matter how stupid and pointless it might be.

Some origins are better left to the imagination.
Easy fix. Don't ever watch it and continue to use your imagination.

You forgot to put IMO before that comment because you don't speak for everyone, and definitely do not speak for me. Prequels sequels do not change how I feel about any original movie. The originals stand on their own. The original Dawn of the Dead is great. I can't stand Day of the Dead, but it has nothing to do, nor has it changed how I feel, about Dawn of the Dead. This is, of course, IMO.
