I'll take a stress free PO over scrambling over a webpage any day

I love when I'm able to secure a pcs item brings the fun back in collecting and if I miss out then the hunt to find it begins, but I did like sideshows smooth transaction when they announced edition sizes with pre orders it was also fun to secure because it used to sell out in a couple of days, now I can wait till in hand to secure

It's not as fun as advertised

Yea that's true some are just a pain, but then the hunt and securing one after is fun, I remember skaar sold out by end of day and I paid like $75 more then retail for the ex when released but boy was it awesome when it came and I was able to secure one, really hoping sideshow goes back to naming edition sized before pre order even if there in 1000s

The actual securing of a quick sell out has some exhilaration to it. However it adds nothing to my enjoyment of the actual statue. The "brings the fun back into collecting" sentiment is one i hear alot about the quick PCS and XM sell outs, but I don't quite get it. I understand on it's surface, but I can't jive with it. Feels hollow to me if that's what puts the fun in collecting. I've enjoyed pieces that were super easy to get and stayed in stock for years just as much as XM Magneto or whathaveyou. But that's me, people collect for different reasons and that's fine but it is sad when a brilliant piece is geared more towards the collectors who need things to be uber rare and increase dramatically in value, because a lot of people miss out on a wonderful piece of artwork. I also think a lot of the quick sell out stuff, particularly with PCS, is manufactured value and not truly consumer added value. It's best when something that was easy to get sells out after a good period of time and over time becomes highly sought after, a relic of times that came before. That's how modern collecting started.

yeah its really just a buyer's high/rush. Like the anticipation that builds during an ebay auction bid. The feeling has nothing to do with collecting other than you better be fast on the button or you don't collect :lol:gah:

In my opinion I myself prefer a good rush and short ES to make it much more exciting and satisfying to own a hard to find statue. Also it's easier to rid of if life gets in the way without losing a big chunk of dough in the process. I'm not muti millionaires like many here, so I do hate when I decide to make space for a new statue and lose 40% or more on my over produce statue. I much prefer the quick minute sell outs even if I'm furious I missed out. Makes the statue even more fun to own or to trade for items we missed out on.

Oh please, we have all seen your for sale threads. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

It is no fun missing out. You can't bank on getting a needed piece when it comes up, and that old $75 premium smooth criminal mentioned...You see what XM pieces are doing on the aftermarket?

I am glad SS is easy to collect. I mean, the Wolverine EX they did years ago sold out in 2 minutes and had server issues locking people out. Exciting? No. Relieved? I guess if you were lucky, because thats all these rare lightning quick sellouts are, luck.

I still never looked at XM after I missed magneto. I heard it was hard to get and because shipping is so high I didn't bother to check out what XM is going for these days. Aren't they like 600.00 to 800.00 for early XM statues? New is what like 500.00 plus? Too much for me unless they get SS to sell these to cut down on the shipping. If they were like 400.00 and not including shipping each. I could live with that.

Once my mindset shifted from "this is going to be hard to get/sell out/go up in value" to "this is what I like and I want to have it on display in my collection" I was much more satisfied with my display. If there needs to be a low ES or hard to find and it goes up in value for someone to enjoy it more, Then you obviously don't really care about the statue itself but more about its perceived value.

I can't wait for the new green hulk!!!

Every day, I think about ordering the Green Hulk but I hesitate because I want to see the production piece. Decisions, decisions.

I've been on the wait list for the Grey since last year, I think. It's been so long I don't even remember. Every now and then I get the email offering me the regular at a slight discount.
