Most of the figures I own are in smaller scales than 1/6 and I open everything, without exception, then recycle the packaging. Yet for some reason I can't bring myself to get rid of the packaging to my 1/6 scale figures, even though I either display them (and enjoy them) or put them away in their boxes (but don't enjoy them). I don't own that many 12" figures so it hasn't been a problem, but I've just bought the Hot Toys Jor-El, 2 in 1 Superman, and Clark Kent. Their packaging takes up too much space for me (I love space!) but it's so gorgeous I can't bring myself to destroy it, even though the figures are on display. Hmmm. What should I do?

I stress I have no thought of ever reselling them, so there are no monetary considerations here.

Then get rid of the inner trays and such and fold the box flat so it doesn't take up much room but you still have it to look at or display with the figure.

Keeping the packing is more needed for PF's,Dio's and Statues, ... If you don't care about ever selling them then get rid of them... but you may regret it.

I fight with this all the time, for cheaper/easier to get figures I usually just trash the package. So far the only ones I'm alway keeping are the exclusive ones.

I know your dilemma too well. As a packrat by nature, I tend to keep all the boxes but i'm about to stick everything in storage so i'm torn with a dilemma...

I tend to rotate items in my collection now and then so keeping the boxes makes sale/trade easier but at the same time I have tubs and tubs of nothing but empty boxes and it really takes up a LOT of room that could be better used...

I can't find it in me to throw away figure packaging, even the large ones that house the HT Predators, Aliens, and Ed-209. They just look too nice to toss into the trash. I consider the packaging to be part of the total cost of a figure, so I can't really throw away something I paid for.

I have a solution, but I know it is a very bad one: keep everything in the box! J/k, but I'm doing this for years now, because I just don't have the room to display things. And if I did unpack all my stuff, it would even get worse: twice as much room is needed. I hope to find a bigger place one day, so I can display everything AND store away my boxes. But what ever happens, I'd never throw away my boxes.

Oh... can't you leave some of your boxes at your parents house?

There's no room - too many boxes of loose figures there already!

With carded figures i have no problem - I think keeping them in the plastic bubble may one day cause the figure to react chemically to it anyway (recently bought a POTF2 Vader with light up sabre which was covered in sticky oily residue when I took it off the card). I have no problem opening sealed 12" boxes...but that Hot Toys packaging is just TOO nice to junk.

And it'll get worse - I just know I'm going to have to keep the packaging to any 12" Indiana Jones figures I buy this year, just for the sheer pleasure of holding a big box with 'Indiana Jones' written on it. But this means a certain percentage of my mortgage is going to go on housing empty boxes!!!!!

Actually, the only other 12" box I've kept is my Toys McCoy Indy box, though I took the accessories out of the blister. Now THAT'S packaging.

I throw them away...I used to keep everything, especially 1/6 scale boxes, but they took up so much room. Is anyone interested in buying just the packaging? I have a Superman 2in1 that is about to get trashed...and if people are interested in buying them, try selling them.

I say keep every damn one of them! I love the HT boxes, almost as much as the figures themselves. Plus the box makes the item more complete.

Theres always room, you just need to rearrange things a bit.

I've now got so much stuff that the boxes are becoming a problem, but if I need to rotate stuff for display I want the original boxes and packaging to store the statues and 12" in when they are not on the shelves. I know some even saves the outer shipping boxes, but I recycle them.

These boxes become a bit of a problem with the space they take, but i keep all of them, just in case of moving and such things, you never know...Besides...there is always accessories left over that you dont use on the figure.

Keep'em...yep, thats it, keep'em, or you'll regret it!

ive said it before and ill say it again. use em as furniture. why buy an end table when about 4 or 5 sideshow boxes willl do just fine. stack a few and put a board across them and BAM!!! instant coffee table. :lol

With today's collector market, paper is more valuable than the actual figures!

You could sell the boxes and buy new figures! :)

I'm still looking for a SS Aragorn 12" box AND a X-Men vs. #2 box (plus styrofoam) if anyone wants to sell them.

I coule never throw the boxes away myself.
