Packaging - should I treasure it or trash it?

I also keep all the boxes, but still think boxes should only be made to protect the figures in transit. I am a figure collector, not a box collector.
When I look at some of todays figures it looks more effort is going in the packaging than the figure. Image if that extra cost was invested in the development of the figures? That way the boxes weren't needed as eyecatcher but instead the quality of the figure.

I really don't care if the box has a pretty picture on it or just a simple brown cardboard box. As long as it provides sufficient protection during transit (you hearing me SS SIM package designer???). Granted, for the 12" figures, the windows are nice, but for the statues/dios/LSB's, just make sure protection is first and foremost.

ive said it before and ill say it again. use em as furniture. why buy an end table when about 4 or 5 sideshow boxes willl do just fine. stack a few and put a board across them and BAM!!! instant coffee table. :lol

:lol Excellent suggestion - Problem solved !!! :lol

We were having problems with our air conditioner last year, and when the service man climbed up into the attic and saw all of the boxes, his jaw just sort of dropped open and he was kind of speechless.

I would never ever think of throwing the 1/6 boxes away!! Thats part of the cost, and if I sale it later they go back in the box!

I save most of my boxes but some of the bigger ones like Jabba I just fold up and the throne box had about 8 others inside it so its being uselfull. If I know there is no chance of me ever selling it the box is gone or if its just kind of plain & boring like the Bubo and probe droid boxes.

I'm thinking about using my attic to store boxes, but I'm wondering how they will hold up in the Arizona heat. Do you have to bag them before storing in attic? I'm worried about mildew as well.

In Arizona; never store fragile valuables in an attic. Arizona is nice and dry most of the year, until it rains. It does range from very dry to very humid. Then there is; not only mildew, but black mold.

Oh, and in Arizona; never store fragile valuables in an attic.

Aside from the humidity, the summer heat (March-October) destroys plastic items over time. This includes plastic containers which might be used to protect packages. An area where temperatures exceed 120 F is not the best environment for any items you might want to preserve.

Did I mention? In Arizona; never store fragile valuables in an attic.

:D

I have too many darn boxes!!! But did decide to get rid of all my 1/6 boxes (except the Firespekter box, which is quite beautiful). Now that I think about it, I suppose I kept my The Dead boxes too....oh and my autographed Hellboy box...and the Nazi Kroenen box....guess I only got rid of the LOTR ones  Which makes it a grand total of 3 I threw out!!! :lol Well, it's a start I suppose. Figured if I ever did resell, they would be okay to ship loose. Now boxes for statues, I will definitely hold on to.

My wardrobes are overflowing with boxes. I won’t throw them because if I move or need to store them away I have a box to put them back in. I guess it's probably better for the environment anyways, and the PF boxes make great side tables.

Pretty much everything in my attic is inside the outer shipping box, which protects it and often includes a plastic bag layer in there as well.
