Not really, his effects work is really great, robot design isn't that imaginative but it's integrated well and the explosion effects are done really good.

But there's nothing to say that he would make a good movie, and I don't see why any studio would take the risk.

It doesn't cost anything if you aren't paying for people's time, plus not counting the hardware, one piece of software costs like $3,000, or his computer, or video camera.

Again, the effects are good but nothing else is, it would land him a job in a visual effects studio but this doesn't make him a good director.

I thought I read that it cost him around $300 to make it. Anyway, they must've say something in him or they wouldn't have made such a deal. Lucky him!

I'm guessing there's something else going on rather than just producers seeing his video on youtube and signing him up to do a movie.

Well... maybe he shopped it around...
but my guess is that studios are now seriously considering YouTube a new source for ideas and talented people...
