i went to ship the tumbler parcel post , figuring it would be cheaper.my jaw hit the floor when the clerk told it would be 55.00 .i was ready to go to UPS when she said, "let me check something out".sure enough priority was 17.50 to ship.what the hell is that all about ?

It's the government. :lol

I've almost always shipped Priority because it was only a couple cents to a buck more than parcel post. I've never seen that much of a discrepancy between prices, wow. Did you have to repackage it into a flat rate box?

i don't think the 1/6 tumbler is gonna fit in a flat rate box

I always ship priority. Fast shipment and it is the only way to purchase a delivery confirmation.

Thats strange it would be so much more... my guess is they made a mistake. And $17.50 sounds really cheap, was it for the 1/6 Tumbler?

You can still get it with Parcel Post, it just costs about .15 more.

Sometimes they make mistakes and they'll use the old way of postage calculation which is significantly cheaper than what they do now. They first measure your box which will decide how much weight the box should carry and then it goes by that, if the actual weight is more than it has on average for a package that size then it costs more. But the old method went by weight alone so it wasn't all that bad. But I've been up there a few times and for instance my Mom sent me a package and I reused the box and it seems they calculated the postage wrong the first time because it cost significantly more to ship and it was something that weighed less than when my Mom used the box to ship me something.

any time something costs way too much just blame it on george w. bush.

ps. that's why sideshows figures went up in price, but dont tell anyone.

Sorta on topic: I shipped a package to an eBay winner on 12/06/07 via Priority mail and they claim it still has not arrived. Does anyone think because of all the packages being shipped that a package could be delayed on arrival by like a week or two?

USPS :emperor

Not by my place.

Everytime I ask them they always tell me I have to use priority. Perhaps they just want more of my money :emperor

No, I've shipped a ton of stuff out at the same time, always gets there in 2-3 days. But I did just have a package not arrive to an eBay winner. Luckily the total with shipping only came to like $10, I just refunded his money and didn't worry about it.

I use the postal machine as often as I can so I know what I can and can't do.
Plus it works faster and has a better attitude.:lol

yes it was the 1/6 tumbler. i was on my way to UPS when she said let me check something out first, sometimes priority is cheaper. i would never have imagined that it was that much cheaper.so i don't think she made a mistake in my opinion.

Two packages were shipped to me from Louisiana to Ohio on 12/10 via priority mail and seven days later one box finally showed up. The other has yet to arrive. The postal service is blaming the holiday rush and the Midwest weather on the delay.

You can use it on any service: Priority, Parcel or 1st Class. (Though with 1st class the item has to be more than 3/4" thick.) If they tell you other they're lying to make you upgrade to Priority which they aren't allowed to do. I'd request to talk to the Postmaster next time you're there, that's bullcrap...
