So i have tried going to 3 different fabric stores today and all of them did not have toy/doll patterns...I really would like to get into this sewing my own clothes cause LORD KNOWS i can't afford some of these prices....I was wondering if anyone knows of where i can maybe download some 1/6 patterns cause i am running into all sorts of walls at this point...

if i were a millionaire this wouldn't be a problem...LOL...

any help is appreciated....:)

your best bet is to find some 1:1 patterns and make your own 1:6 from that. the Barbie ones aren't very detailed anyways so you would have to mod them anyways.

What patterns would you be looking for?

i'm looking for long coats and dress pants...

i already knew i may have to change barbie ones but i was hoping to find something here on the boards...thanks

i'm still hoping to find someone's help on here tho...:)

I'm no sewing wiz, but I found that taking apart existing 1/6 clothing or trying to make paper patterns off of them as a start. Since all bodies are different, there is no good way to make patterns except for trial and error. The best bet is to go to a fabric store and buy some cheap patterns to figure out pattern making. I learned tons by doing that. How the shape of the pattern needs to be to fit under the arms or between the legs is very important. Also remember that being off a 1/4 inch in 1/1 world is no big deal, but being off a 1/4 inch in 1/6 world IS a big deal! :lol
Also buy some cheap fabric to make your test patterns with because you don't want to burn through the good stuff you'll be making your finals from. Trust me when I say you'll need to make a bunch of experiments before you figure out the final piece, especially if you're not good at sewing. I made a robe for my Tyler Durden figure using Terry cloth on a HT Narrow, then used the same pattern for my Jack figure using thinner material on a HT Slim and the robe was SWIMMING on the slim, had to totally rework the pattern. :monkey2
The best advice is to jump in and just start experimenting. :hi5:
