Super Freak
I'm in Ireland, I do have the option of paying by gift with paypal. All the other stuff, the warnings about paypal gift etc remain true but yes, the objective fact is it is there. In fact it seems to be the default setting, I have to click off it onto 'purchase of goods'. Seems to me if I'm not careful I could very easily accidentally pay by Gift.
I just want to point out the common misconception that only a buyer loses their protection with the gift option. A seller loses protection also. I was actually screwed over once as the seller. Long story short I sold merchandise in the amount of about $160.00 I had a tracking number and everything so I know it got there. The buyer waited 3 months before he filed a fraudulent charge with his credit card company. Paypal wouldn't do anything for me because I accepted a gift payment. So in the end I lost the money and the merchandise.
Thanks you two for actually answering the question I asked and for suggesting it could also be a risk for the seller. To the others........was that so hard.
