Per LEGO, Disney is dropping the name "Slave 1".

JK's views were abhorrent though

I reckon her comments were misunderstood. She was essentially saying "don't throw the baby out with the bathwater" - include trans people but not at the expense of "women" everywhere, who are actually the world's largest minority.

Put another way, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. (Though Trek III disproved that.)

Not yet. But USS Armstrong might get the ax. Armstrong said Mankind... not Personkind.

Yes, we've already seen "no man" changed to "no one" in the Trek intro.

I love all the morons on twitter saying it is just to sell more merch. Why not have Slave 1 Boba Fett’s Starsip like they did on the original Slave 1 toys?

What did JK say that was so bad?

There may have been earlier incidents but in the one I caught, she objected to the term "women" being replaced with "people who menstruate" - to cover those who identify as male or non-binary but have female sex organs.

So, more disputes over names and labels.

Yeah I don't recall anything she said that warranted the reaction she got and when even Rowling, a known feminist, is given no benefit of the doubt then as far as the rest of us and our opinions on the matter are concerned....

Even I draw a line at this tokenistic nonsense. Nobody is outraged at the name, nobody asked for this. This is 'Uncle Ben's' all over again.

One of the many reasons I do my best to just keep my personal opinions to myself, I stay off social media, and try not to get doxxed.

Cause man....if I had no filter? I'd be jobless and homeless within 48 hours.

Yeah, this thread is full of that type of fallacy.

"Oh no, they changed the name of the Star Wars ship that never had its name uttered in film & television! This must mean they'll go after The Green Goblin character next!"

:ROFLMAO:

This thread is something else...
Pretty sure it was mentioned by name by Aurra Sing in The Clone Wars.
And if George Lucas said it was called Slave I, when he was still the head of Star Wars, then it’s called Slave I :dunno

Since the Lego set in question represents scenes where Fett was teaming up with Mando hopefully they just didn't want to use the word "slave" on a product where the aforementioned ship was helping the main hero. Probably not but I can dream, lol.

Fortunately this type of thing just isn't enough to get me worked up. Yes cancelling an iconic name due to political correctness is lame but at the end of the day it's a name change and I just don't like name changes *regardless of the reason.* And since I survived Biker Scouts being renamed Scout Troopers, Walrusman and Hammerhead getting new more alien sounding names and countless other revisions over the years I'm fine just forever referring to Fett's ship as "Slave I" just like I'll forever call them Biker Scouts and so forth.

It was called Slave I in Joe Johnston's 1980 sketchbook which would have predated the 1981 Kenner toy.

I do like that Fett's ship is so badass that it's name got banned, that actually makes it even cooler now. :lol You never see any freaking Star Trek ship names getting banned, lol.
:lol :lol :lol

Starship Enterprise sounds so dangerous we must change it to Starship Tele Tubby lol

She's now branded a TERF (trans-exclusionary radical feminist).

No respectful debate, just cancellation.
What I take issue with is how Rowling is somehow now a Nazi for expressing mere disagreement with some demands of Trans activism - not hate, disagreement. The reaction was out of all proportion and the movement really does itself no favours when they seem so unable or unwilling to recognize 'degrees' in their opposition*. They come across as screaming children stamping their feet.

*I don't even find it accurate to call her 'opposition' for that matter

What we have now is like the tail wagging the dog.

The outrage of minorities has such a powerful impact that rather than attempting to balance out society it tilts it too far the other way instead.

Usually the next generation introduces something to piss off the former, so I hope that all these word haters get what is coming to them.

Well, I know I'm only one guy and make no difference in the long run, but I've only bought a handful of Star Wars products since Disney took over. With the exception of Luke as an old man, I own nothing from any of the Disney "projects." I don't even own a Mandalorian figure in any form.

The last time I paid for a SW movie was The Force Awakens. I have yet to watch Rise of Shitwalker, even for free, and I doubt I ever will.

I'm out here voting with my wallet. But it's gonna take a hell of a lot more people than me before the message gets through to Disney.
You said Shitwalker 😂 Nice!

Glad I got the Vintage collection Slave I before that got switched. The box looked glorious with the proper name of Fett's ship. I'm someone who leans toward minimizes use of words that others might find offensive or cause feelings of exclusion, but this is one that I can't get behind.
