After the first 2 AVPs I think a director would have to be pretty desperate to follow in the footsteps of PWSA and the Strausses - only first-time directors previously experinced as FX guys or stunt-co-ordinators would be given the job to direct a project that Fox has little faith in.

I read Twohy is much more interested and set in making more "Riddick" films anyway. If an established director did tackle AvP3 it would probably be a hack like Russell Mulcahy (Resident Evil: Extinction)

It's sad really as the comics have shown when written properly there's so much potential there for a great story. Yet they just churn out more smack downs between the two monsters

aliens and preds have not worked together onscreen so far, theres is always bias and to much to keep in line with from the previous stand alone and crossover films it would seem.

we know Preds are drawn to heat and conflict and aliens have not been present on Earth before the events of the Alien movies....so naturally AVP1 was sent on Earth and at Antartica :lol

THEN avp2 was AGAIN set on Earth with witnesses and a whole town going Kaboom! :dunno

I think they should just make a Predator 3 and be done with it.
Aliens are less scary with every movie that is made because you see them more and more and they are no longer creatures of mystery.

But I suppose as long as there is money to make and the opportunity to cash in on 2 franchises at the same time, fox will go with an avp3 before anything else.

The best thing that can come out of an AVP3 is the opportunity to finally see a P3 made!

Daaammmn J0KER, that was DEEP!!!:monkey2:monkey2

I know man...I need to be deep sometimes to keep my homies on their toes :lol

but it is true, the Alien series ended with Alien3 for me although I know for some it ended with Aliens (with Hicks and Newt still alive :monkey3)
the AVP films turned the Aliens into mindless things that are there to be shot at.

Also a P3 could take a new direction with new actors very easily whereas an Alien5 would almost HAVE to include tired old clone Ripley or even worse if was a prequel demystify the Space Jockeys

I think an alien film could definitely be scary again. Its just a decent flick hasn't be made for years and no one knows how to direct these movies like Ridley and James.

A L I E N is usually in polls one of the top ten scariest movies of all time ( usually in the top 5 ) . With the same sort of setting , the same sort of atmosphere and not a load of people who can't act I think a decent scary alien flick could be made again.
It wouldn't even touch the original but it could still scare.

To be honest I couldn't care less if they ever make another Alien movie again. I have Alien for scares , Aliens for action and AVP for laughs.

I'm done.

a good director would need to be paid more, Fox paid the Strauses less cos they were from a special effects background and it was their first movie.

What I'd like to see above anything is an Aliens 3, ignoring the original Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection (kind of like how Superman Returns ignores 3 and 4, or the Terminator Series ignores Rise of the Machines).

A Predator 3 would be okay but without Arnie, I don't know, and he won't be doing any movies until after he retires from politics. Personally, I don't mind the AVP movies and am looking forward to a third. They're much better than the last two Aliens standalones, imo.

great points Joker. on top of that, honestly, it is almost like the ONLY way a good AvP movie will ever be made, or even a good sequel to Alien or Predator will be if another studio buys the rights to the films (which will never happen).

Fox has nothing but dollars in their eyes, and have no interest in making good, respectable films anymore. I really like David Twohy, but I fear that Fox would have a hold on his balls so tight that he would have no creative license whatsoever.

I mean seriously, a high school pizza delivery boy as a main character in an Alien Predator film????
