a good director would need to be paid more, Fox paid the Strauses less cos they were from a special effects background and it was their first movie.

Exactly, Fox know a good director isnt even needed to get the fans hyped cos they'll go see the film regardless of director, stars or story - Aliens and Preds is enough for them.

Plus a good director doesnt need to do an AvP film. Is it just me or does the same topic about future A/P sequels always come up every couple months?

I agree, I think in the light of what has gone before, a 'good' director would probably deem AvP3 as a risky venture, especially as FOX will most probably look to keep the budget as low as possible and hire unknown actors with no real talent.

perhaps they should only go as far as creating the concept art then hand it over to Hot Toys

Why got that far, Hot Toys seem to be doing quite well on their own with Machiko.

Maybe a Robot Chicken style AvP3 made by Hot Toys. At least you know what's on screen will be in the box then

Look, what you need is someone who loves both creatures equally. I like them that way too. I do love the Predator, but I dont like it when the Predator is always in the spotlight, and always killing aliens. Get 5 Preds, and 15 Aliens. You can have your one on one battles, with a different winner each time, you can have your awesome massacre Predator moments, you can have some Alien or Predator deaths from humans...ect. It has to be FAIR. I dont think I'd make these movies just to see who "won". But to make a good story involving these two beasties fighting each other.

one side excluding the humans will inevitably have to be portrayed as the 'protagonists' and that almost definitely has to be the preds. just like we saw in requiem.
which is also sad because preds are not good guys.

i hate that whole 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend' stuff

Yeah, humans are a must. Humans come first. But still, you need to get the creatures right before you can even begin production.

I don't think you'll ever find a combat scenario that works for AVP.

Aliens don't stand a chance against a Predators stand off weapons unless they are coming en masse.

Predators don't fare well against Aliens in close quarters combat when only melee weapons are involved. The combo of the Aliens superior speed, the tail spike, the inner jaw attack and acid for blood make close contact a losing proposition.

Both AVP movies has to weaken the Predators and jack up the number of Aliens to make it work. ( AVP - All three Predators didn't have their plasma cannons to start. AVPR - The ship Predators were ambushed and Wolf was overwhelmed against greater odds )

The only plausible fight I can see is a Predator sans cannon/shruiken but with a long spear and acid proof shield versus a single Alien.

The reality is a better fight would be Predator Vs Predator and Alien Versus Alien.

Aliens arent weak. I dont know why people think that, an Alien is quite intelligent. They can find a way to outsmart the Predators easily.

Oh yes, when a Predator has a big freakin cannon then yeah, bye bye Alien. But the acid comes into factor, and im sure the Predator isnt that stupid. (AvP-R doesnt count, if you look closely in the hospital scene you WILL see blood going onto the cannon, but since the Straues were baised, you'd never noticed.
Point is. An Alien can kill a Predator, and a Predator can kill an Alien. AvP (if they just seperated the deaths) had a great thing going. Alien kills Predator (not counting Chopper, even though that was kinda badass....) Predator kills a few Aliens with weapons, fights Aliens without weapons ect. Its all about keeping the fights as unbaised, and random as possible.
