So I've been pretty much a 2+ can a day Dew drinker for the last 15 years (first one before 7am) and I've decided to give Dew (and all soda) up for Lent! :duh

I'm allowing myself Gatorade and ice tea and of course beer, just no "soda" products.

So place your bets how long I will go!:banana I promise I will be completely honest.

And tell me if you're giving something up.

With beer allowed I think you'll make it all the way.

I'm not giving up anything for Lent. Ain't my bag baby.

EDIT: Also, isn't it MTN Dew now? I pronounce it "Mitten Doo" myself. :)

I don't know if you are aware but Gaterade, Ice Tea, and beer are just as bad. They are just under different guises. Pseudo Healthy I suppose but Gaterade and Ice Tea are both loaded with sugar- almost to the point that you might as well drink a soda. Stick to water and cut beer to a minimum and then you will be on a better track.

Its not really a "health" reason I'm fasting. Sure its a benefit, but the point of the Lent fast is to "sacrifice" something I thoroughly enjoy (in MTN DEW's case, to the point of addiction).

Sacrificing all that other stuff too would be a feat of strength I know I can't accomplish.

Even though I never go to Church I still don't eat meat on Friday's during lent.:lol:lol:lol

I could not give up Mountain Dew for 40 days
Not giving up anything---But I am going to a Bible study on Weds. night during the season---and maybe beyond.....

I'm giving up cigarettes and no meat on Fridays.

I thought no meat on Fridays was a rule during lent. That was how my Mom acted. She would always say it was ok if I ate meat, but you knew she didn't really mean it.:lol Hell, my Grandma won't even eat meat on regular Fridays and I am pretty sure old people are exempt from all lent rules.

It is a rule...I just tend to forget it until right after I've eaten a hamburger or something. So this year I will try to make a better effort at remembering. :)

You are such a ^^^^ty Catholic. I am a better lent Catholic than you and I haven't gone to Church outside weddings and funerals for like 8 years.:lol:lol:lol

I give up cigs every Lent. :lol Sometimes I've quit for over a year...sometimes only several months. But this time it's for good! I'm moving into my new home in a couple weeks and I'm seeing this as a fresh start. Plus with a mortgage I won't be able to afford cigs anymore. :lol

I have never been to confession. Never. I used to go to the reconciliation masses where they absolved everybody at once.:lol:lol:lol

I did that once. :lol I will only confess to one person.....so he knows I haven't been in awhile....but I'll go again before Easter. Then I'll be square. :D
