Ok so I bought a PS4 about two months ago, ran into a few issues already, a month ago it wouldn't turn on, I had to finally unplug it for a while and then back in to get it to work normally. Ok thing were good for a few weeks, now starting a couple of days ago I turned it off for the night, next morning it was on, I thought maybe I forgot to turn it off so I did just that, then a few seconds later it turned back on again:panic:

I turned it off via the controller a few more times with the same result, it would just turn back on about 10-20 seconds later, tried the power button on the console, same thing once again:slap

I gave up and went to work, came home read up on the issue and unplugged it for a while, then back in then it worked fine once more. Now once again tonight the same issue, the ****ing thing keeps turning if self back on, but wait it gets better, now the controls are not working properly, a press to turn it off via the controller and it goes back to the main screen, I have to hold the button in to go past the screen I want then back track with the O button then press and hold the X button to select the option I want:gah::gah:

I once again tried unplugging it this time, no good, keeps doing the same annoying things I just mentioned, I also tried restart option to no avail, any ideas:dunno

I think there is an issue with static build up which can also cause the discs to eject randomly. You can send it to sony for repair but they charge for shipping or something. Sorry to hear youre having problems with your ps4

Sounds strange. Your console should be under warranty, though. I bought my PS4 back in August, and thankfully, I haven't had any problems since then.

It's because your avatar is taking over, Skull. :lol

Anyway, sounds like it's related to the disc eject issue. It happens occasionally to mine as well. The PS4 has a design flaw in which the rubber footing interferes with the eject button. One way to fix it is to unplug the console for at least 3 minutes. There are at least 3 more fixes but I've never resorted to those.

If you're still under warranty, I'd think it's best to contact Sony, but the auto on issue can be permanently fixed by tweaking the rubber footing and screw, which would void the warranty.

Sorry to hear about this, Pete. This is the first I've heard of this issue with the system. It might be a good bet to just contact Sony about it. Whenever I've sent them PS3s, it runs about $150 or so to get it repaired, but they basically sent me a new console so you'll probably lose your data. But I think it saves online now through PS+, not sure.

Thanks for the responses fellas:hi5: I turned it off last night and unplugged it after creating this thread, left it unplugged all night, just plugged it back in and still the issue remains. As suggested I'm going to call support and see what they say and go from there. I got to say I'm pretty disappointed with the system, I thought going back to PlayStation was a great choice as I went thought 3 X-BOX 360S red ring of death and never had problems with the PS systems I had in the past.

Dont be discourage about ps4...I guess its just unfortunate that you end up getting a bad one.
I've had nothing but great experiences with Playstations, so I have the utmost love for the product.
My ps3 is still the fat batch 1 and still going strong. since It includes a ps2 chip in it...so that's why I gave my ps2 to my niece which was still going strong.
My ps1 was great.
Recently upgraded my ps4 to 2 tb, and it was a quick easy upgrade compared to upgrading my ps3's hard drive.

I think just with any product...there's bound to be some bad batches.
One thing I can think of before sending it off, I think there's an option there when you reboot in safe mode to restore the ps4 to its original state...like when you first bought it.
Maybe that may fix it.

Thanks, I've enjoyed gaming quite a bit since getting it but I would be lying if I say these issues aren't a downer. I'm starting to think it might be the controller that's defective as that seems to be what keeps turning it back on, I will remove it from the range of the console and see if I can turn it off without it being present.

It does seem odd and I have not heard of this problem before. No console is without its share of problems...let us know what Sony says on this issue.
Could check the TV settings, see if there is some kind of HDMI setting that when the PS4 Input is selected it automatically turns on the PS4 (HDMI Device Link).
Might be able to turn that off. Also if any headset microphones are attached and voice commands are activated (don;t know much about this though, do not use voice commands).

Does it give you an error message? I've had minor issues in the past of being unable to turn on properly, but nothing like you're having. I suggest calling Sony OR take it back to wherever you bought it and ask for an exchange. If you have Playstation Plus all of your save games should be backed up to your account.

Setting have been the same since I got it, the issue is random so I don't believe that to be the cause, no other items are connected to it like headset and I'm not even sure how to use voice command to be honest.

I don't have playstation plus:(

I heard this was a common error except of the system turning off, not on. I'll have to ask a fellow Freak and buddy. He may know more about that.

I just got home tonight, I removed the controller to another floor out of reach of the signal, the PS4 works normally with the controller removed, turns off and stays off so it looks like the problem is the controller, I will buy a new one and see how that works out.

OK just an up-date, I called playstation warranty number 1-800-345-7669 and went though some trouble shooting with the representative to no avail, sending out the console and controller out for service, kicker is I have to pay shipping on the controller, tried my best to avoid that but bottom line is I have to pay for it:pfft: So I will be without a system for a month, have to pay for shipping and have lost all my game data, not very happy to say the least:mad:

That is idiotic. I never had that issue with Microsoft. And they had the decency to compensate lost time with an xbox live code.

I never really have an issue with Sony, but it's a shame to hear that. May just sell my Batman one, get the Darth Vader one and throw on a 2 year warranty. Rather deal with a retailer at this point.

I asked for compensation for this, also I had paid for extra skins for my batman game too, all lost and still they offered nothing, I took the time to 100% batman too:( I was currently taking my time playing MGS5 and was only 20-30 percent complete but my mother base was coming along nicely, its not the end of the world, I can honestly say its the least of my problems as I'm dealing with much bigger issues at home with family health concerns but this has taken away my small escape from reality for a while, one of the things I was able to enjoy to forget all the BS I'm currently dealing with.

Really sorry to hear that, bud.

If you have Playstation Plus, you could just upload your data into the cloud. That way you don't lose your data and such. Helped a lot when I transferred my 60 GB PS3 into a 320 GB.

With luck, maybe it'll be fixed much quicker than anticipated.

Thanks very much, however I don't have plus, I was planning on getting it after I beat MG5 to do some online multiplayer, I lost the data today during the trouble shooting with the representative from sony. Like I said its not the biggest issue in the world, I'm a big boy but it is disappointing.

Hey skull sounds like you are having the issue I ran into awhile ago. I'd play for abit and it would itself on awhile later. I had to change the settings so it would go to stand by if there was no activity in 20 minutes. It lead into a more series issue if it going to infinite save mode.

I sent it in for services I don't know what was the problem but I can tell you they replaced the hard drive only and since then I've had no issues to date.

I thought I was the only one with this issue, I couldn't find anything online with the turning on issue, just the turning off, I even asked the rep at Sony and he hadn't heard of it ether. Well when it does come back I hope the issues will be behind me, I don't really have the time to waste dealing with this nonsense.

I'd wake up see it on. And when I returned from work it would be on. I had 2nd time in went into safemode so I said screw it and sent it into service. Could also be weak connection with hard drive or faulty hard drive. I've also read could be the power or eject button issue since it's touch sensitive. But your disc isn't ejecting so I cross that out. My service time was quick so I suggest sending it now before the hoilday season.
