Well, hybrid and SSD drives just offer better performance gains when compared to mechanical drives:
(1) Data transfers are much faster, and you'll especially notice it when you're importing files from flash memory.
(2) Boot times are greatly reduced, and in fact, that cannot be stated enough. If you have a PS4 or a PC with a SSD, it'll boot up within seconds. Load times are also decreased when saving (and loading) files.
(3) SSD drives also have no moving parts, so they aren't as prone to data corruption and read/write errors as mechanical drives.
Now, a hybrid SSD drive, like the one I linked, incorporates the performance gains of a SSD into a HDD - hence, why it's called a "hybrid" drive. It won't perform as fast as a SSD drive, but it's a great improvement over a HDD.
The cool thing is, that Seagate marketed their hybrid drive with console gamers in mind. It's worth checking out. And since it operates like a mechanical drive, it's much cheaper than a SSD.
