I agree with Bannister. I like the new ones better. It's a simple, elegant design that says "high end collectible" to me, rather than "high end action figure."

OLD! but who cares.
At this point, why not update the packaging every year? Hasbro and other toy companies do it so things don't get so "same-old, same old." That way we can look back and say, "Oh this is a year 1 figure and this is a year 4 figure." The packaging guys might not be thrilled with it, but it might be kind cool.
As for the original vs new, I like both. The new does seem more "high end" item to me. That is why I think it is perfect for Jabba and the throne. Things like that could stay in that style and have the figures stay in the original style. Either way, I'm happy.
