Re: Pop Culture Shock: The Thing MacReady

Well they are realising the SoA figures soon so I bet they will release macready too! Although if all figures sell really well I wonder what kind of new licenses they would buy or figures they would create?

Re: Pop Culture Shock: The Thing MacReady

Definitely getting that when released in 2025

My friends and I thought this looked really cool at Wondercon. I immediately thought it was way better than SSC Plisken but I am not familiar with this company so not sure how their proto to production stuff comes out. He is a bit squinty eyed but still recognizable and the spider/head/Thing looked freaky as it should.

Likeness is absolutely fantastic. With a better paint job (that is odd saying that considering SS painted it) this will look a ton better as well.

I think the likeness is the only thing hurting this figure. It's a generic long-haired bearded guy and not Kurt Russell. But at this point, beggars can't be choosey.

I do hope it brings the holster belt, pistol, hat, goggles and some dynamite sticks. Might as well throw in a bottle of J&B.

I wish we could get some crisper pics. I can't get a handle on the sculpt yet. The Clay & Jax pics aren't much better but I'm getting a better sense of what's what with them.

Like AJ & Wor-Gar said, there are some pretty necessary missing bits and some tweaks that could improve this

I agree. The rest is hard not to screw up, I mean, it's just a jacket, pants, etc. Simple. The head sculpt was the only thing they had to nail and I think they failed fairly badly - by today's standards.

Head on, "maybe'...

But profile appears to be way off. I don't expect a HT type sculpt (Michael Caine / Alfred Pennyworth-like, for example) but it's just not up to today's level of recognition detailing. (if that makes any sense...)
