Just so you have an idea, in case interested...

this is the versailles tile pattern:

As ou can see, it's a single pattern repated over and over to create a somewhat "random" pattern.

I thought at first.. BOOO! Not another lame post plateau thread, but this is actually neat! I love home projects! I can not wait to see how this turns out bud!

Thanks Eli, appreciate it. Now with all the self imposed publicity, the pressure to do a good job is tangible.

Progress.

This is about 5-6 hours of works worth. These are set in thinset (well, most of them, the others were to verify layout as I got close to the walls and verify my chalk lines). My backis going to feel this tomorrow. I could use a soma.

After ~2 weeks time. I had some unexpected delays (hang over, family visits, scoliosis of the spine, etc.).

NOTE: buffing of existing tile to remove haze, grout sealing, and tile border pending.

I'm just starting to think of the display posibilites. Marvel... LOTR... Horror... ??? Plenty of space to work with. Nice shiny refinished floors.

I still have more than half the house to complete, so it will be a little bit more time, but I can't wait to get some shelves in place.

Don't know if anyone has been following this or not, so this will probably be my last update until I start my own collection thread.

BTW - why can't I update the title on the entire thread rather than just for that message?

I've been relatively busy since last update, but there was a good week off for a short vacation. Other than that, I've been doing this:

Grouting was not very fun at all. Imagine rubbing mud inbetween rocks as hard as you can and then cleaning up afterwards.

Border/splash-guard tiles. These were actuall 8x8 tiles cut in half to save costs. And more mud.

This is what was left after removing the toilet. Rather disgusting. First the valve leaked, so had to be replaced (always buy the 1/4 turn valves, should be a requirement on new homes), then the iron flange that toilet sits on was completely rusted/rotted out and had to have replacement kit installed. Very fun.

And a throne fit for a king. 16.5 inch height, elongated, "comfort width", now that's a crapper!

The first attempt didn't go so well... porcelaine is VERY fragile and prone to breakage.

I plan on making this the display area. Maybe 3 or 4 enclosed shelves. I want ones like Squidder's.

Just the start...

I wish I could just go buy some shelves tomorrow, but I still have the kitchen and main TV room to do now, but should go much quicker, less corners/cuts.
