Follow some of the earlier links... no such worries, the announcement is that Dark Horse are re-launching their Alien and Predator lines after about an 8-year hiatus.

IMO this is rather good news, their quality standards on comics are generally high, even if the recent novels have been rather lacklustre.

I hope to God you aren't referring to Turnabout, because that book was excellent.

AGREED turnabout was a great book. could have done with more pred action but it was interesting to see it from a human hunter point of view

Hell yeah! I wasn't offended by Sloane getting the better of the Predators either. It was an extremely well executed book, hell, I'd be just fine with that story being loosely used for a movie.

...can't wait to see how the Predator: South China Sea turns out.

I did actually have that book in mind - of the three, Forever Midnight is rubbish, Flesh and Blood had good ideas but didn't execute them well, and Turnabout lacked ideas but did 'by the numbers' well. Hence, overall, lacklustre.

Don't get me wrong, I think Turnabout was well written enough; Steve Perry is a good writer, and clearly enjoyed writing Sloane. But I really felt they underused the Predators in it. It felt like he had a story, and was just using the Predator franchise to get it published. Which, coming from the originator of the Yautja take on the creatures, was disappointing. I guess that having bought it as a Predator novel, I expected more actual use of the Predators...

Totally understandable statement! And I agree, I do think the story of Sloane with Mary and the poachers took center stage, and there wasn't as much (as I'd like) focus on the Predators. I can completely agree with that. Just making sure you didn't think it was in the same pile as Forever Midnight, lmao.

Flesh and Blood was decent, the Predators were EXTREMELY violent, almost pushing it for me personally, but it was easy to get through than FM.

You gonna end up picking up South China Sea? It's cool someone else here reads the books, just wanted to add that bit in.

I'd kill, KILL for a novel where they take it back to the times of Vikings, and have a small group of extremely skilled Preds hunting a group of big, violent, nasty Nordic Vikings.

i'll go see that..............:banana

Hell yeah! When Pathfinder hit theaters, I saw it three times because I enjoyed it so much, the last time I got nudged on the arm and Connor was like, "dude, I bet you'd kill for one of those Predators to be in this."

Since then, I read a lot about those times, and I gotta say, it'd be one BADASS movie or book if it was ever made. Have them leave Oseberg, Norway in the beginning, establish the main characters before they reach their destination in a foreign land, and really make them fit the unsavory, violent, savage image with their own stories of raids and conquests. About a quarter of the way in, you introduce the Predator(s) subtly. Sorta how Predator was shot, just replace Dutch and his men with Vikings.

That's the basic idea, it's way more complex, but I don't want to go on a long drawn out schpiel. :lol
