I'm a die hard fan of the comic book, probably my favorite comic ever honestly. The story is incredible. The show branches off at points, but it's put together very well. I was so excited after watching it last night that today didn't even feel like Monday to me. Lol.

Well, the show isn't suppose to be all that serious. I didn't feel that way about that scene. I don't care for the boy at all (he the annoying Peter Pan in that Gieco commercial) but he's not on there that long.

Gotta love Tulip though! :lol

I DVR'd it and re-watched the scene. Some of my criticism of the scene does belong to the boy; He's a bit annoying. I will say that the show ended much better than its first half.

I didn't feel it was that different at all. You still have the core of the story which is correct, Starr is already in the mix, Cassidy is crazy as ****, Genesis hits Jesse like it should and gains the word of God. Arseface shows up way early, but I can get over that because he was introduced in way that worked. Tulip's story has changed a bit, but both Jesse and her were both criminals in the past, so that's still right too. IMO they got on the important stuff right. I've watched the pilot 4x already. Lol

In terms of narrative it's completely different from the comic, but...

So yeah, I'll give the show a chance to do it's own thing.
The style is all over the place tho, and dem action scenes are pretty blegh.

Tom Cruise explodes! lol

Finally watched this last night and was pretty underwhelmed. I was actually bored with it for awhile and my wife stopped watching it after half an hour. I'll give it a shot though since it got better toward the end. I just need to come to peace with the fact that it's going to be quite a bit different from the comics and see where it goes.

I'm glad I'm not much of a reader when it comes to watching TV and movies. I think I'm less disappointed that way.

Mixed feelings about the premiere. I will give it shot for more 2 or 3 episodes

To be fair, the Preacher series is a must-read even for people that don't read comic books. The story-telling and characters are absolutely top notch. I'm sure I'll keep watching the show even though it's different than the comic. At the very least, I want to see if the differences are worth it in order to get the story on TV. This was always going to be a difficult adaptation so as a fan the least I can do is stick with it and just cross my fingers that it stands on its own.

Yeah, so I'm watching the pilot episode again for the 5th time. Lol.

And you can watch it again tonight on AMC. It will be the premiere again followed by Talking Preacher. I might not watch the whole thing again, but I definitely want to watch the first part and Tulip's part. :lol

meh totally disappointed by this. they seem to be going the serious drama walking dead route. This is not at all how I pictured it in the book. Seems to have a completely different tone, I don't even know if I would know this was preacher if it wasn't for the 2 main characters. As its own show I thought it was interesting though and I love blood and guts so Ill stay tuned. And those action scenes were good, but again I never thought anyone was having great hand to hand choreographed fights while reading the book. One more thing, tulip is nothing like her character and I think the two actors don't have much chemistry.
