Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

When I go back and look at the pics it looks really good to me. Granted I'm not a Predator afficianado. I'd just like to have a great representation of the character in my collection. No doubt SS will make other 1/4 scale Predators in the next couple of years. Are there any Predator movies being released this year?

Then you're probably the perfect customer for this one. And nope, not that we know of but SS have a decent back catalog for future 1/4 Predators to go with this guy. Hopefully we will see a sequel to Predators at some point though.

There was talk of a "Predators" 2 but not sure if that's fell flat. I'm still hoping for a better AVP at some point done by people who take the source material seriously.

It looks really good in the video's, so much I would have changed but overall it's a cool looking piece. He really needed open mandibles but I think I would display him with the helmet anyway, P2 is my favourite Bio.

That's just it - this is not a "great" representation - it's an "OK" representation. It's all personal opinion though after all.

The faults are many and BIG (unlike the spear) - and the "negativity" is simply part of the wax and wane as people say "it's great" vs. "meh".

I'm not interested in any other predators SideShow produce from this point on, unless they come up with new designs that catch my eye (unlikely now Narin doesn't want to deal with them). I just don't like the Predator designs from ANY of the movies after P2 enough to shell out big bucks on them (again - unless it's a Narin sculpt).

If you like it enough and can afford it - buy it - it's that simple. You can always send it back if the QC sucks.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

Congrats, I am sure this statue will be awesome in hand!

I think and hope your right! I really can't wait to have a nice quality Predator in my collection. I missed out in the first one SS did so I guess this is the next best thing. I’m more excited about getting this piece then anything else this year. I know a lot of ppl are tearing it apart but I think it looks pretty bad ass myself. (Besides the messed up stand and small spear.) But I’m over those issues.:chillpill:

I agree with what u said..i got into collecting a year ago and therefore missed the pred maq, pred cinemaquette, and the lsf..you know whats crazy, and I'm sure ill catch some heat for this, i prefer THIS statue over the predator 1 maquette…like by a lot..I know if i come on here I'm crazy so I took a lot of pics of both, some proto some in-hand and asked 6 different people that I know..no lie 5 out of 6 picked the predator 2 maquette as the one I should get..and trust me they weren't crappy pics or anything it was totally straight..so who knows..to me though i think its gonna look great, its 28 inches, only 3 inches shorter i believe than the supposed 1/2 scale lsf, so I like that…in june I've got apocalypse shipping (32 inches to the top of the arm, 26 to the head), July I've got Goro (24 inches to the top of the head) and August this guy at 28 inches..i LOVE the larger, taller, more massive pieces…while this isn't as thick as say apocalypse, the height and pose will give it a presence like hell…I'm thinking of having it next to my custom batman pf (26 or 25 inches I believe) as I think it'll make one helluva display..

Who cares what your friends say, it's what you like that counts.
Saying that the P1 is pretty much screen accurate.

By the way... Where did you get P2 in hand pictures?

Who told you the LSF is 1:2 scale? :lol

I understand where you're coming from. To me the pics of the P2 look better to me as well. Not as nice as the LSF overall but better than anything else. Of coarse purist will prefer the CM or the maq based on accuracy. Don't get me wrong they all look very good so I'm not bashing any. I think the P2 will be an eye catcher in any display. I've also got Apocalypse and Gladiator Hulk coming to go along with Sauron, so I've got to build a custom display area. Luckily I have plenty of space.

Right its not like I was going with a majority opinion, sometimes its just good to get feedback if you will. Obviously the P1 maquette is more screen accurate, but I believe the things the P2 has to its advantages are color scheme and pose. The P2 in-hand pics I used were just some of the HD ones from last years SDCC. lol and in regards to the LSF I thought SS advertised all their LSF's as 1/2 scale no? Whether or not it truly is however is another story...

Right thats not knocking the maq or the cinemaq, just making an observation imo…I had always thought the pose of the P1 looked off and didn't necessarily highlight the predator-ness of the predator, if that makes sense…again not basing, they all have their pros and cons if you look deep enough. And yea crap Im running out of room and gotta do something very soon in regards to an official display. Depending on money issues I will try to pick up G-hulk as well, bcz to me that piece is stunning and perfect; main reason I haven't yet is bcz the 3000 ES doesn't require me to jump in right away.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

I don't know which one is better all I know I can't freakin wait to get the P2 maquette and display it next to my P1 maquette.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

Looking at the above pic, it looks like the P1 dreads do the exact thing most are complaining about on the P2.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

Someone pointed out earlier how this angle looks pretty good for this piece. I do think it looks good primarily because the awkwardness of the dreads isn't that obvious. It also looks somewhat heroic:

That side view looks real good! Now I like it even more, can't wait..:)

The P1 maquette definitely! The CM? Noooo lol, that thing is far from accurate, Steve Wang sculpted it how he imagines the P1. It is Awesome in every way apart from not having a displayable bio head but accurate it isn't.

As for the P1s dreads, no problem on that guy, In fact the head sculpts on that were just incredible, both of them. The dreads are meant to come out at an angle, the problem with the P2 is that they come out almost straight and then droop down. If you look at the P1 you'll notice not only are they shallower but they have a constant curve and are drooping straight away, not to mention he is in motion and the dreads on his left are bunched up against his cannon mount which gives the appearance they stick out more that side.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

After the Predator crew received the original Alien suit, which was already late and they were well into production, everyone hated it with good reason.
Stan Winston and his team were called in, on Arnies advice, and literally had to throw a design together and make it.
The CM is what Steve Wang would of created if he had more time to work on it.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

Is the bio too small on P2 and that's what giving the dreads that look?
Should it be wider to hide the curved dread part?
