:exactly: so true

I know some of my mates can't understand my obsession with this hobby but at the same time I can't understand what they get out of some of there hobbies. We're all different & we just see things differently I guess

I like Predator 1, but there's something about the City Hunter I like over all the other Preds. Hmmm... is he worthy of a display to himself?

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

Well I've been wanting a large scale P2 for so long now!! This piece looks great overall in my opinion. I love the paint job and the subtle pose is just enough for this scale. I do have a few reservations however....

1. There is no way on this Earth a Chinese factory is going to do that paint application justice. If they couldn't paint a half scale P2 head right, this isn't going to happen.

2. The base.... a rock.... has teeth? it just looks weird. :dunno

3. This one is the doozy. The dreads are sticking out of the head at a 90 degree angle and then bending down? This is not how they should look at all and once you've seen it, you cannot unsee it again. This is the deciding factor for me. Hopefully a couple of minor changes will be made before production.

Overall though, I think this will be my first SS purchase since the P1 LSB. Even I'm finding myself getting quite optimistic this might actually come out okay. I have no interest in the swap out disk in hand however, the image I have burned in my mind of the P2 is him holding his spear. I would prefer the disk be on his hip. Also an unmasked head for the exclusive would be nice but I fear shipping and VAT on this will not be feasible for a direct purchase, we shal see.

Note the dreads pointing down, not out....

It's such a shame that SS has gone with sky-high prices and rock-bottom quality.

It's a business model that should have seen them disappear long ago, fortunately for them they have us nutters keeping them afloat... hopefully they will remember that when they are painting this one ;)

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

Who is King Willy? Is someone referring to the new born royal baby boy? Can i just a this moment to say that why people in their thousands queued up outside the hospital where Kate gave birth and Buckingham Palace all day in 35 degree sunshine is beyond me...have they not got better things to do? :dunno Its not like they were going to show the baby a few hours after the birth now was it! :cuckoo:

I know...crazy!
My mother in law was talking about it like it was her new grandson :rotfl
WTF!? Who gives a s**t?

King willy is the rasta crime boss that got he's head chopped off by the pred, that would be a quite unique EX if done.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

The reason this will be expensive, like the Predator 1 and Wolf maquettes is that Predators are not simple statues at this scale. They have netting, something like 50 individual dreds, quills, weapons, switch out heads, complicated paint patterns. All that takes time and money to make and assemble. It's not gonna be $600. I think closer to double that but would like to be pleasantly surprised.
Which they screw up royally yet price it north of $1k.

I like Predator 1, but there's something about the City Hunter I like over all the other Preds. Hmmm... is he worthy of a display to himself?
Every Predator is itself worthy of being displayed alone. Except for the new ones. :pfft:

So the preview is up for this on the SS and for the mask. Does a preview being up mean it'll be up for PO soon or could it still be months away?

Ha I think girls is always an obsession for boys. Even gay dudes seem to be obsessed with girls but obviously in a different way to us straight guys :lol

well, hot toys' consistently superb paint work (barring a few minor incidents) are all done in a "chinese factory". don't blame the chinese painters, blame sideshow's poor quality control.

That's a fair point... I should have said sideshows factories. You raise a very good point though, Sideshow know the reputation they have with regards to poor quality and shoddy paint apps and they must realise it is damaging them long term when even the die hard fans fear the worst of the production pieces.. If higher quality paint jobs can indeed be done en mass in China as other companies seem to prove, why don't they find better work shops? :dunno

Because we still buy?

The base should of reflected the floor off the ship with a wall of trophies for the Ex :rock

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

too bad Neca Preds are closer to 1/5th scale than 1/4th.
