Now the dreaded wait for my first ever customs bill

But I used rewards to reduce this a tad, so I’m not sure if that’ll have an effect on the customs bill. It should.

Not sure about that. I think Sideshow declares the full price of the item no matter what.

They may. But the sales tax (GST/value added tax) itself shouldn’t be levied on that. But the customs levy charge I don’t know.

You just have to prove what you paid and you will get charged tax on that.

Well I paid my Australian customs duties, and it was a bit more than I was hoping.

It’s essentially calculated as:-

5% x (AUD Value of the item (less any applicable discounts/rewards - Sideshow did report the reduced value) plus 10% GST x (AUD Value of the item + Shipping + the 5% Duties just calculated) plus Custom charges (DHL charges $83 AUD for clearance and $22 AUD for advance payment / deferment).

I wasn’t expecting that last $105 AUD. So if you’re just above the $1,000 threshold for customs, you’ll automatically get hit by that charge.

Actually it’s already arrived in Australia, and is currently on the delivery truck!!


But no head is worth that much

Well I’ve got it in hand. I could barely fit it in my car. A centimetre more and I would’ve had to take it out of the shipper.

Overall it’s a great statue, but mine does have its issues. Primarily the eyes are a bit iffy, especially on the unmasked headsculpt. The magnet on the grappler hand is way too weak. But outside of those it’s great on display.

However because of Bats looking downwards, the statue should be displayed at least slightly above eye level. Both the body and the base are fairly heavy. Though I wish it wasn’t so deep, an inch less and it’ll fit in a Besta.

Honestly I’m not too sure what I think about the eyes. Not the best placement, but with all the issues between Sideshow and Prime 1 I don’t know what I’m going to do......if anything.

And I’m not sure if he’s scaled a bit too big or not. As his bulk is quite a bit more than other 1/3 AK pieces that I have. AK Joker looks absolutely tiny compared to him, but Joker is underscaled anyway.



Was a bit too dark to take photos (eyes look okay in this pic, but too much pick eye), but in hand Batfleck’s head is quite a bit bigger than the Miller Bats, which previously was by far the biggest 1/3 scaled headsculpt that I had in my collection.

I reckon comic heads can be a little smaller than 'actual' people. Although the Training outfit ww looked a little big but I guess she would be in scale compared to this batman

I’ll be getting that piece in the next few weeks. So at least I can display the two together.

Here in Germany I allways have to pay 22% - 25% tax. Have to pay that for the total amount statue+shipping.

You said 1 inch less and he could fit into the Besta. Glad i switched using Stuva and for the even bigger ones Pax. Stuva witdh is the same as Besta but more depth.

Yep, I was already planning to get a Stuva for this Bats.

Stupid question, but do the Glassvik doors fit on the Stuva? I know I’ll have door bevel issues for the bigger statues, but I can’t currently fit a bigger piece of furniture.

Yes, the doors fit on the Stuva. Besta = Stuva but with more depth.

To be fair, the head on the Prime 1 Dark Knight statue is not a good comparison point as it's smallish compared to his body - not 'undersized', mind you, as it actually befits Miller's style.

Eyes look fine there. How's the paint apps on the skin and beard? Are they still using translucent resin?
