I was exactly the same 
Was so gutted I missed out on their original OP Maquette and could never afford those crazy secondary market prices 
Then all of a sudden and BOOM!! Prime 1 release their epic version and so mine was a Day 1 Pre Order for the EX 
I think its fair to say that the announcement of Prime 1's version has certainly hurt the selling value of Sideshow's original maquette...not many people are biting at the prices they once sold for...
I have the regular SS maquette and really, this is another thing compared to this museum piece 1studio is offering.
However, I am glad to have both (I have a regular OP 1studio on order): a ROTF and a DOTM Optimus Prime, whoich is one of my favourite characters.
Very tempted to take the ride with Grimlock and optimus, but this is something to budget!!!

Just say OP transformed into different pose. I bet my wife won't even know and go oooh, that's it, thought it look a little different.

I think my wife has started checking my statue prices on ebay!?! So I might be in deep, deep trouble in Jannuary!
My only hope is that I can get away with saying its SS OP, hopefully it will be $500 on ebay by then, saved!

Ooh man, ebay is bad bad. My wife loves it when I say I can sell the statue for a profit. That way when she sees me buy new statue, she don't give me a fuss

At least we can be grateful that Sideshow will be shipping the Prime in just the 2 Shipping boxes as opposed to Megatrons 3 
means there's a pretty good chance that we'll get both boxes delivered at the same time

actually, the Prime 1 bases for their Transformer line was one of the things that attracted me to their pieces so I doubt I'll change too much in regards to the bases themselves. However, a custom made display plinth or pedestal may be a possibility for both Prime and Megatron once they arrive inhand...I'm thinking autobot/Decepticon logos with lots of cool lighting
