I bet you that everyone involved with the SW 12" line @ SSC, EXACTLY knows what WE want, and WHY we get what we get. And more importantly WHEN we get it. It's all marketing. The fact that all 12" figures have sold out (except for Qui-Gon of course), illustrates that they could stretch this thing for ever. Fortunately, the inevitable end of the license dictates them to make decisions. I guess that is one reason why the line is developing so fast. We'll get all the big shots, but we need to be patient. Vader, Palpatine, Boba Fett, ... there's no need to beg for them. I'm concerned about the less popular characters. As the line progresses in time, the interest in in it grows, making it harder to get an exclusive version of these figures.

Oh! Oh! Oh! Do you hear that bell? I bet you, it's the Ice cream man! Hurry, hurry, before he's gone...

From a merketing point of view, it would not be wise of them to give us all f our most wanted characters in the first year. I have actually been surprised at how fast the releases have come, and at how many major characters have been put out their so soon. If we are going to stay interested and devoted to the line, they need to keep the anticipation drawn out over a longer span of time.

Does anyone know when the license is up? The Q & A guy at Galactic Hunter belives it's for three years. I'd hoped to get at least a good 125 to 150 figures before the line ended

Qui-Gon sold at 1.1 figure per second, a more popular character selling at 2 per second at an edition size of 2000 will sell out in 16 minutes. Hell, It took me 11 minutes to get the Qui-Gon. A 5 minute window is a little to close for comfort, the edition sizes do need to be higher on certain characters.

In one of the podcasts, they said they had the license indefinitely.

Since this is in agreement with Hasbro and Lucas, I guess Hasbros contract length would apply.

Cool, thanks! That's 2018, I belive.

As I've said before, there doesn't have to be an exlusive version. Like its been stated before, popular characters like Boba and Vader will sell well anyway so why alienate some and make an exclusive that will sell out too fast. 1/2 hour to get a better version of a figure just isn't right. That window is way too small. It need to be an hour at least.

I don't mind them doing exclusives for Vader & Fett; and I don't believe they should raise the edition sizes for them. We don't even know what the exclusives would be, they could stink and nobody may want the exclusives. I really hope they give us a version of Vader from each film, and if they do, it's definitely overkill to do exclusives for each version of Vader - just the first one should have an exclusive.

Actually I belive it was "for some time to come," not indefinitely. But if it runs til the end of the Hasbro license that'd be cool.

Exclusives for Vader:

Ep III (pre-burn)- Poggle the Lesser's head
Ep III (armored)- surgical droid
Ep IV- Mouse Droid or Interogation Droid
Ep V- Luke's severed hand, clutching the hilt or holographic Imperials
Ep VI- alternate "dusty" armor.

So many Vaders... A question: do you think that we can take off the helmets from the SideShow Vaders? The helmet must be big enough the cover the head, so I wonder if the helmet will be in proportion to the rest of the figure. How will this be for all the possible other armored figures: stormtroopers, Boba Fett, ... So far we haven't seen a single 12" SW figure with a hat or a helmet, hence the question.

Change-o-head. That way the helmeted head stays in scale and doesn't have to be over-sized to fit over the regular head.

Jacen_Solo posted this over at RS but I thought you might like to see it:

To continue the how many pre-orders/time before shipping thing from the last part of this topic, here’s what we have so far;

Jedi Luke Skywalker (Pre-Order Nov 05, Ships March 06 – Delayed until April 06)
Anakin Skywalker, Jedi Knight, (Pre-Order Dec 05, Ships April 06)
Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jedi Master (Pre-Order Jan 06, Ships May 06)
Jedi Master Kit Fisto (Pre-Order Jan 06, Ships June 06)
Bespin Han Solo (Pre-Order Feb 06, Ships July 06)
Mace Windu, Jedi Master (Pre-Order Feb 06, Ships Aug 06)
Qui-Gon Jinn (Pre-Order March 06, Ships Sept 06)

Based on that I’d say we can expect this;

2006 Figure 8 (Pre-Order April 06, Ships Oct 06)
2006 Figure 9 (Pre-Order May 06, Ships Nov 06)
2006 Figure 10 (Pre-Order June 06, Ships Dec 06)

Then we’d be pre-ordering our first Q1 2007 figure in July. It does work out well as roughly one figure per month and one pre-order per month.

Sounds about right, doesn't it?
