Yep I remember E.T. and Batman being the first affordable VHS movies and around 20 bucks. Most movies hit rental first and then went for sale. Damn we are all old.

I see a lot people on this site attributing affordable VHS movies to Batman but Top Gun was actually the gamechanger. Then E.T. then Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and then Batman. To this day that $26.95 Top Gun msrp is still burned into my brain. :lol

Damn we are all old.

Yeah we are. :lol

What i did was just hook up two vcr together and just rent the movies and record them on a blank tape :lol :lol :lol

If they couldnt be recorded i would simply record them when they played on tv. I had like 50 tapes at one point, each tape could fit 3 movies

I remember taping shows and pausing to not record the commercials. We have gotten spoiled with all of the advancements in technology. I bought the letterboxed Star Wars Trilogy vhs for 100 bucks and extended terminator 2 for 40 bucks. Prices have been more reasonable nowadays for sure

yeah I paused too, I was glued to the tv to not let commercials get recorded. I also would rewind a little bit between commercials to have the movie perfectly recorded.
It was fun when the family got Cinemax because then i didn't have to worry about the commercials. I remember recording the Mask and recording Ghostbusters 2 from Cinemax.

then I realized they played soft core **** at night and recorded over both The Mask and Ghostbusters 2 some weeks later :lol:lol
( I kinda wish that I kept some of those soft core tapes. it is basically impossible to find the names of those movies now.

I remember cinemax showing a lot of Shannon tweed movies. good time to be a boy hitting puberty

I have purchased “In Stock” blu rays online from BB but never “Pre-Order”. When you Pre-order can you pick up in store or is it shipped meaning shipping charges apply?

I'm not sure about Canada. Here you can pre-order and pick up in store for 5 days or have it shipped. I don't think you have to pay shipping on movies anymore.
