Yes i think it's a good idea if any of you guys going down the path of group commission is governed by some sort of a system.

Paypal is in strong favor of buyers... so if you guys feel that the customiser/sculptor not communicating and showing no progress you can always file a dispute and retrieve your money back.

Time frame is kinda tricky question. Sometimes ^^^^ happens, delay is inevitable. I can understand the pain on both sides.

Anyway I have an idea... how about we have a list of customisers/sculptors and have an indepth review rating of

*quality of work
*communication
*time frame
etc

This way all the new comers have some sort of idea of how each customisers/sculptors work around here.

how about having one subforum with mod control (named something like "ongoing custom projects" etc)

each sculptor need approval from the mod of the subforum to open a thread and they can only open one thread. where they list out their current projects (and expected deadline, cost, details etc)

project coordinator can only post at the current custom forum to gather interest. when he/she get enough interest for a project, he/she can find a sculptor for commission. the sculptor will then update his thread in the subforum so others can be informed of the current project that's going on

as for payment, think small deposit is reasonable for the project to get started, so to be fair for the sculptor

as for the mod role in this, well he/she is to control the number of commission that each sculptor can have on the board, so that he/she won't be overwhelmed by the numerous request.

Not always - only for 45 days. And most sculpting commissions in my experience run well past that.

I think a refundable 25% deposit, and the rest on completion would be an option, a posted guarantee from a customizer that a commissioned piece can be finished within 6 months (if a customizer cant do it within 6 months he already has too mcuh on his plate), or the customizer will return deposits for those posters that post they want it returned.

Those that can wait another 6 months for the completed piece, it can be extended, indefinitely every 6 months asking those not prepared to wait if they want their money back.

Any sculptor who wont return a deposit is banned from offering his services on here

The onus is on the Customizer, produce or return deposits, its been too easy to take monies and think ill do it 'whenever' it leads to the situation we have now.

If you spend the deposits on materials you better produce the goods as if you don't you better have the money to pay back deposits or your banned from being a customizer.

My 2 cents

Why not have an established member willing to handle the area hold the money until the items are completed, or refund them if they do not get done? I'm also looking for someone to cast 1000 copies of my weiner.

Hmmm...I was just kidding about the 1000 casts of my weiner, but I have had a couple of pm offers to do it now(seriously!?!). They can do it in a soft silicone or harder resin. If you are interested let me know and if you need references contact Darko's mom.
