Re: Quantum Mechanix 1/6 Star Trek The Original Series Kirk and Spock

Are there plans for any other parts of the bridge?

:lecture Yes. This. They could be modular sections i.e. Science for Spock, Communications for Uhura Navigation console for Sulu/Checkov, etc.

That's excellent news! It looked fantastic in person at SDCC.

Are there plans for any other parts of the bridge?

Make sure you, and everyone you know, buy the chair - that would make it easier to decide if we'll make other set pieces.

Thanks for the quick response. I know I'm in for the chair and any other set pieces that get made. Hopefully others are too. A 1:6 bridge set up would be insane--in a good way.

I don't think I will use the phaser belt. Wouldn't you need a white handled phaser to be accurate?

The back magnets seem to be very similar to the Franz Joseph book

Re: Quantum Mechanix 1/6 Star Trek The Original Series Kirk and Spock

After reading through a few times I just wanted to clarify something. The stickers that some people are receiving were NOT included by me or anyone involved with Planet Action Figures.

I'm getting emails asking if I can send these stickers out to people and if they buy from me will they get the stickers.

I cannot send out any stickers! I do not have any nor will I have any. They are unofficial and NOT part of the release and QMx are currently investigating on how they got there. They are included in some of the Kirks.

Well, keeping my fingers crossed that the sticker will be included in "my" box. Btw, Aaron, how are your international shipments coming along? I have not yet received a notification. Feel like a kid waiting for Christmas :)

Dave, are there any plans to have the chair lights be on a remote control? This is a feature sorely missing in light up collectibles and it would be a real treat if you could just pop them without having to open your cabinets up and finagle the thing till you hit a 2cm wide switch.

Man that would be sweet. No idea where I'd put it but I'd find somewhere.
With the except of Spock's scanner, aren't all the bridge stations the same minus a few graphics? So I suppose if QMX released the science, comm & engineering stations, collectors could buy extra sections & almost make a complete bridge and only need to the view screen & side panels & turbo lift doors

Re: Quantum Mechanix 1/6 Star Trek The Original Series Kirk and Spock

What is it about Star Trek that seems to bring out people's desire to build environments? It's awesome of course, it's just super curious why we don't see this level of accessory/environment engagement from other licenses. I'm all for dioramas and try to display as many of my figures in context as I can. :)

Re: Quantum Mechanix 1/6 Star Trek The Original Series Kirk and Spock

Personally I'd rather Qmx focus all their energies on producing characters from the movies and DS9 (and perfecting their TNG figures) than on making a bunch of bridge pieces.

I personally think it's because of all the flashing lights and screens. The backdrop/ship is as iconic as the characters. Everyone instantly recognises it. Plus, with this TOS version, it's not impossible to reproduce - boxy 60s nostalgia. Creating a modern bridge would be harder. There's not a huge amount of films/TV that have that real iconic backdrop to them and dioramas are harder. I have a few SW dioramas made by SS - Yoda's hut and cantina etc, and they're very good (Yoda's hut is a monster to display) but not the same wow factor as TOS bridge, IMO.

The crew of NCC-1701 will be visiting NCC-1700 soon. Note: this is a fan made bridge; made with cardboards.

Yes, just to clarify - these were accidentally added to some shipments from the factory and not approved by QMx or the licensor.

Because... THAT.

Re: Quantum Mechanix 1/6 Star Trek The Original Series Kirk and Spock

I think the helm / navigation console is a must in addition to the captain's chair. The 2 joined together would make a nice stand-alone piece. Spock and McCoy tended to float about behind Kirk's chair anyway. I personally would go for Mr Spock's science station, but manufacturing such a large section of the bridge, would be costly, and might look a bit odd all on it's own. You would need to add Uhura's station as well as the Lift doors, then it all starts to get a bit much in terms of cost and space.

Re: Quantum Mechanix 1/6 Star Trek The Original Series Kirk and Spock

Yes I think including some bridge consoles might be a great way to drum up more interest in supporting characters outside the Big 3. You could just sell the chairs separately! Maybe a bio-bed monitor for Chapel and the bridge engineering console for Rand. Scotty could have a transporter console. Even then there are still sets that could stand on their own. The transporter pads, the science console, main engineering and the inanimate carbon rod etc.

I confess my favourite is the TMP Enterprise, with all the deck plans telling me what every button and dial was for. I might have to get me some 3d prints of those regardless. Regardless of whether I go for them, I'd still buy the TOS consoles to show solidarity for the entire concept.
