Spec Fiction wants $480 to ship to Texas.

Companies have taken advantage of the consumer since COVID. Three years later, everything is still "Due to COVID..." Same with shipping costs. They've realized they can keep pretending shipping costs are still high, so why not double or triple the cost of shipping, people will pay it bc "its shipping, what can you do?". Now they can make an extra 15% on each item they sell by adding revenue through inflated shipping costs. Barely concealed thievery.

I could ship the 2 boxes myself for less, so I think not.

I'm holding off with the shipping since we have a couple of months. I'm really hoping to see an actual thorough review before then to make a final decision.

I canceled my preorder. I just can't justify the price after they messed this up so much. Repainting it alone would have been doable, but to have to do that AND go through and fill in all of those score lines they added leaves this a no-go for me, ESPECIALY at this price point. Such a shame. I was sooo excited.

Yup, I canceled it a couple of months ago myself. I lost $400, not too bad I suppose. The shipping was going to be expensive. But I saw super clear pictures in Facebook from someone who bought it and displayed it next to the Prime 1 Big Chap 1/3. In his own words: “Not worth the price. The 1/3 Big Chap has a much superior paint app.”

The Queen bust sculpt is amazing. I even like the sculpted cranium ovals. But that paint, man. It’s plain Rustoleum spray paint crap. I mean, I’d gladly pay $2k for it, but not $4k plus another $500+ shipping.

Now I was looking at Bruce Hansing’s Alien Bust. It’s nice and all, but I’m a bit turned off by how lightweight it is. Hollow fiberglass. Also not keen on how the head just sits on the torso. No magnets, and kinda lose. I’ll have to settle for my 1/2 Sideshow Big Chap bust for now, lol. I also have a signed H.R. Giger Hollywood Collectibles Gallery Alien bust.

Well, let’s, see. I have three statues on preorder. Prime 1 Ripley, Prime 1 Alien Warrior, and PureArts T-1000.

I have room for just one more statue…then I’m done. My little mancave will be complete.

I have my sights on finishing big. Prime 1 Berserker Predator 1/3 might be the one. But if it’s $4k, I’m out. Hopefully is in the $3k range at most. If not, then gotta maybe call it a day, and that’s that. Snap outta this super expensive hobby once and for all, lol.

I also salivate when I see that older Sideshow Rebel Terminator statue chick. I have the Machiko Noguchi premium format statue. They would pair awesomely together (with Ripley too). But she’s going for mad money on the secondary market, $1500+. Screw that! I’d get her for the right price. I missed getting her in one auction on eBay once, she went for $650. That’s the money shot for me, lol.

I love that 1/3 Katana on Prime 1. What a gorgeous statue. I love Japanese culture. Speak some Japanese myself. But she doesn’t go with my collection. But I’m still tempted regardless, lol. Damn statue addiction, lol.

The front skull cracks weren't sculpted in yet either. Was that pic presented as a finished sculpt or a wip?

Spec Fiction are taking pre-orders again for this piece, received email today as i was on the wishlist so grabbed one instantly, get in quick before it sells out again.

Just wanted to say a big thanks to toty21 & patriot666 for offering to help but luckily as mentioned it became available again.

Anyone else in the UK like me have this on order?

I like the Bruce Hansing bust but the paint on the teeth is lacking imo. How accurate is his bust btw? Can someone post theirs? I am seriously thinking on purchasing one someday.
