so, i send some figures to a guy late October (not a board member), and then follow-up with an email a week later asking he received them and get no response. 3 weeks later he fills out a paypal dispute claiming he didn't receive them. What the heck???

I didn't deliver them with delivery confirmation (lesson learned).

What do I do now?? Any help would be appreciated!!!

you lose. and the buyer knows it.

Thanks for responding. But what guarantee is there that he didn't receive them? Do i automatically lose? It seems unfair that he wins purely based on his word vs. mine.

unless you can prove he received it, he'll win.

maybe check with the shipping company and ask them if they delivered the package...?

I will definitely be doing that on monday. i shipped by usps.

also, by USPS, if it can't be delivered to him, doesn't it get automatically get sent back to the sender?

yep take that angle with USPS and tell them what he is saying and act like they didn't deliver it and they will have in incentive to confirm with you through his local post office....try and make them send you confirmation that it was delivered.

I will do that for sure. Thanks bro.

This just pisses me off that there are people like this in this world. I mean, I sent him an email on Oct 22 telling him that the items shipped - didn't hear from him. I then sent him a follow-up email on Nov 6 asking him if he received them - NOTHING. then today on November 22 i get a paypal dispute. No email to me, just a paypal dispute.

Seriously, unreal.

yep that's why I always insure and use delivery confirmation and just include it in the price of the item. it gives me a sick feeling in my stomach now to sell something on evilbay.

I think if you purchase your postage online, it includes delivery confirmation for free. Plus it saves time cuz you can just skip the line at the PO and put them on the counter and walk away and laugh at the last person who just got into a 30+ minute line.

Tell the buyer that you're going to file a stolen mail claim with USPS. Sometimes that makes them "find" the package.

Do you still have your postage receipt?

A lot of sellers think that it is in the BUYERS best intrest to request Delivery confirmation and Insurance. But they fail to realize that it is the complete opposite. As a seller you don't charge the buyer for delivery conf/tracking and insurance for their sakes....you do it to save your OWN ASS in case of situations just like this.

That doesn't matter since Paypal will negative his balance. they could care less what happened to the package if the seller can't provide proof of shipping which includes BOTH the tracking number and postage receipt.

:lecture

I had my first lost package earlier this year...but my opinion prior to that pretty much mirrored the above. I always left it as an option to the buyer.

No more...now it's mandatory and built into my shipping price. I also get all my USPS postage online as was suggested as well. It negates the entire delivery confirmation fee of $.80 you would have paid in person.

Thanks all for your comments and suggestions.

Get this - so I email the guy basicly telling him that he was very communicative until he sent payment. Then I was very communicative after shipping and didn't hear anything from him - only to wait a month later to open a paypal dispute.

his response: "sorry, i just got the packages - i will close the disputes"

HAHA!! I'm pretty sure he got them weeks ago, and was hoping to win this, only to realize that with so much communication between him and me earlier, it would be harder for him get away with.
