I have a lot of experience dying, and that thing above probably won't turn white. It probably will turn a light orange color. Bleaching items white is very tough. If you leave it too long it will also disintegrate.
Other problem is, the zipper will remain tan.
Paintwashing or airbrushing it will certainly make it too stiff, and the frocked material is a real problem to fill all those nooks and crannies.
Sorry for all the bad news, just warning ya. If you don't care too much about the piece, give it a shot. You never really know.
If you have lots of time, leave it out in the sun for a week. That will bleach it out better than any liquid form could do.
Last thing: RIT whitener. It's great for taking out dye you've put in, but useless for turning colored items white. Bleach, watered-down, still works best for most jobs.
