If it was done in same style as the LOTR film then it would be in the movies and the ROTK TV version would not have existed...budget and film length were at fault

that it also sucked monkey balls was also a *minor* factor.:monkey1

Thanks for the link, yes i have these 2 other animated versions but i was referring to Ralph Bakshi's movie. I would loved to have seen a further movie to continue through to the end. I love that animated movie but fely a bit let down when it finished after the battle of Helms Deep. There was so much story to tell :(

That ROTK movie in my link was pretty much all we got, and was done to tie up the loose ends, so in a way it's the sequel, if the animation is a little different.

I always like to remind people of that. The battle is just a few pages and mostly consists of "Aragorn slew many enemies, Gimli slew many enemies, and the trees looked like..."

I kid, but the battle is only like a handful of pages.

I always point to this when people say they don't see how they could make two, let alone, three movies from The Hobbit. When you look at how short the Battle of Helm's Deep is in the books, compared to the movie version, and how short the battle with Smaug is, you know that battle is going to be huge onscreen!

At least I hope! :D

Maybe the entire third Hobbit film will be dedicated entirely to the Battle of the Five Armies? :yess:

Well, I think PJ is going to do alot to connect the Hobbit with LOTR. From what I gather these look like the movie premise for each section of the book.

An Unexpected Journey: Focus on the Necromancer being Sauron and Gandalf's adventures therein and wil finish with the defeat of the Golbin King. As seen in the recent trailer.

The Desolation of Smaug: Adventures in Mirkwood. Dwarves get to the Dragon and kill it. Prepping for the Battle of Five Armies.

There and Back Again: The Battle of Five Armies. Ending with some work on the foroces of Mordor and Sauron gaining strength. Maybe something of Gollum's travels to the Mordor area. A connection piece to the LOTR.

On it's own, I don't think The Hobbit really warrants three movies, however, if PJ does include alot of connecting story pieces, it could fill out well.

I think it's pretty much widely believed that the first film will end with the company's rescue by the eagles from the wargs and goblins, so I think the second movie could end with the battle at dol guldur and bilbo walking down to smaugs lair.
