Ok.
So, I received my Exclusive Old West Ghost Rider last Saturday and got it with two broken flames. Both came off clean, one is a small piece, the other a medium-med/large.

I got an email from the Returns Dept today with my three options...

- A temporary full refund on this item with a booked replacement order to be fulfilled as soon as the replacement is available.

- A full refund on this item and no replacement.

- A 25% reimbursement of the cost of the item and you keep the statue you have as is. No replacement for this item.

What would y'all do?

If you pick the 3rd option, how would you recommend fixing the pieces back onto the base?

depending how obvious and visible it would be to reglue the broken flames, I'd take the 25% discount. Use some resin glue...the type that you have to mix together.

if it's too visible, that guy would go back to sideshow in a heartbeat.

i say screw this statue man..its one of sideshows all time worst bad packaging/shipping case.Get a full refund and buy other stuff.

The breaks are clean where you'd have to kinda know there were breaks to begin with at first glance over. careful inspection would make them look a little obvious, but probably if you also had one of your own.

i'm just scared to return it for an exchange and get one worse off.

trying to see what y'all think for 2nd opinion

:) I'd like to get a Wolverine Comiquette :)

If they are making more, then maybe they will address the packaging problem at the same time. I say wait for the replacement if you really wanted this item. I personally find it hard to live with a broken piece, if I know it is broken.

Here's the response they sent me, Lonnie:

Thank you for taking the time to contact the Returns Department. I'm sorry to hear that your statue did not survive the trip.

Currently we are experiencing an anticipated 30-90 day wait on a replacement for this item. At this time I have 3 options to extend to you:

So, they've got a lot of items to fix, not just mine... a few survived...but evn those that some folks from SSC got were damaged as well. even they're not immune. i'd like to wait, but at the same time...

switch it for the regular edition.
the flames on the base lessen the impact of the flames on Ghost Rider anyway IMO.

i voted to get the temporary refund until it can be replaced. however, thats just me. if you like the piece keep it and go for the 25% discount and try to repair it yourself. i happen to like this piece so i would not want to chance further damage by trying to fix it myself.

For Roger Moore they automatically issued refunds and didn't give us a choice. I'm guessing because they had to go back into production on it to service all the broken ones.

I have lots of broken/scraped pieces - comes from having to shift them around all the time due to lack of space. I just learn to live with it.

I got mine through my comicbook store, and they hadn't received it yet. :(
ah well. still waiting,

why can't SS let us keep the statue with broken bases and just send out replacement bases, instead of sending off the "whole" statue?

I know that MR doesnt do this because there's simply no way to properly "package" just the base. The packaging is meant to incorporate both the base and statue. Unless it's a complete widespread problem like with the Negative Zone spidey in which case they will probably have to engineer a whole new package just for that replacement base.

I asked the same thing, being an international customer I got this:

Unfortunately because each statue and base is individually cast, often a new base would not fit your original statue. As such we would ask you to destroy the entire statue for a full replacement.

I kept the 25% discount.

I'm not getting the exclusive, so hopefully the breakage isn't that much of a problem. Just got a shipping notice too

:D
