Visible defects are one thing and I agree that they should be rectified by Sideshow.
But collectors who complain because the shipper box is damaged or there's a teensy spec of whatever on the bottom of the base is another.
Collectors who demand perfection will never be satisfied. Nothing is perfect in this world.
Nothing.
Totally agree. I roll my eyes sometimes at the things people get obsessed about. I think sometimes people have to really think, what they are complaining about and is it worth it? Its a plastic, painted statue of something (that others would probably find dorky anyway), that you really love. It's just a thing on your shelf.
Because of the nature of this business and the fact you can't walk into a store and inspect it and pick out that perfect statue for yourself, you will always take a risk with something fragile being shipped to you.
Good luck if you think the UPS guy is going to gently lay the box down in his truck, because it says Sideshow on it. lol
Even if I got a statue and the head was snapped off. Well, that's what crazy glue is for. I had to crazy glue tons of things I broke or snapped off these stupid statues.
They are just fragile. I dealt with it.
I also collected only for ME!. I never cared about what it's worth, hoping the value goes up so I can sell it later etc. I got them to enjoy for myself.
If I was Sideshow, I would be annoyed too at the complaint after complaint about little silly things, or people preordering then cancelling. No wonder they added the deposits, and are picky with what they will replace or refund you with.
Granted they are expensive for what they are in my opinion. And obviously if you spend alot of money on something, you want it to be perfect. But it won't always be. People say it all the time: Oh this statue is 1000 bucks. So it better be perfect Sideshow! Perfect for that money. Bottom line the same care or quality control or shipping methods are used whether it's a small cheap statue, or a larger expensive one.
Stick to hot toys action figures, if you don't want to risk broken polystone statues in the mail.
AT the same time, when they ship stuff that is obviously flawed - crazy eyes etc, they do have to step up some QC at their end. But once it's in the mail...oh well.
