The expansion sets consist of a new sculpt and maybe a new accessory or two so the owners of the original release can “expand” or update what they have. The slim versions are for those that never got the first release but with less accessories and the new sculpt.

Hey peeps. Not sure if this is the best place for this or if someone already covered this, but since someone mentioned Lurtz, I think it's interesting. An article and interview to Andy Hsu, from Asmus. “Also The Lord of the Rings we will continue to, complete the series. Gimli is coming out to complete The Fellowship of the Ring, and we will have the Uruk-hai and the Orcs.” More here:

Awesome to see Asmus is still fully committed to this line but I can't help but wonder, where is Gollum? Lurtz and orcs are great, Eomer and Arwen would be good, but Smeagol is the one to get after now IMO. Obviously a crazy design challenge to tackle but it would be amazing to finally get him in all his 1/6 scale insanity.

Totally agree, but I'm sure he's in the works. I'd rather wait until they have a perfect solution for him than having a rushed product.

I don’t know how cost effective he would be as far as sharing parts with other figures unless but I would use NECA’s 1:8 scale Gollum as a guide. I think that is about as good as you can get unless you cover the body with some kind of rubber-ish skin.
