i remember this movie... it was almost as good as indiana jones. did anyone else remember sharon stone in this movie??

Um..yeah..that would be Richard Chamberlin in an Allan Quartermain
adventure. King Solomons mines or Lost City of Gold, methinks.

Okay, who's releasing this and when?

Hopefully late summer.
Just testing the waters.
Seeing if anyone has any constructive feedback
before its wrapped up. Only doing a handful.
But Im thinking of re-titling to the Allan Quartermain figure
if hes more recognizable.

Excellent likeness! And honestly I think we've had more requests for Quigley and Magnum PI than a Selleck Quartermain. I never even knew he played Quartermain.

Put if it's the full figure and not just the head, I'm there although I never saw the film.

LOVED "Quigley Down Under". Didn't think I'd like it that much, but it's a great movie! And that sculpt is most definitely Quigley! Very good job, it would be fun to kitbash a Quigley figure. What do you think your price point will be for something like this?

BTW, my dad has one of those "Quigley" rifles. It's identical to the one Quigley used in the movie (not a prop, an actual rifle). It's REALLY heavy. I think my dad said it weighs something like 22 pounds. Which, for a rifle, is, you know... heavy! :lol

Yeah, sorry I was kidding about changing the name. I have a dry sense of humor some times. I shoulda used one of them fancy lol icons.
Selleck never played Quartermain. Its a niche figure I guess. Most people whove seen it really like it. A good runner up character for Selleck
since he was forced to pass on Indiana Jones.

The figure includes :
Leather chaps
Leather cartridge belt
Leather boots
Leather saddle with initials M & Q
Leather saddlebags
Bowie knife/sheath
Cowboy hat
Scarf
Spurs
Faded denim pants
Shirt
Shiloh Sharpes Rifle w/wildcat ammo and rear vernier sights.

I just re-read this post and realized -- YOU'RE DOING THIS?! That's amazing, I thought this was like a Hot Toys/Medicom piece. You build the saddle too?

Really rockin' talent, Spartan. My hat's off to ya!

:D

Allow me to clarify a previous post. I wrote:

I was refering to the movie being well regarded by those that have seen it, not the figure. Though obviously I think the figure is nice (to say the least) as well.

Thanks for the generous comments everyone.
I appreciate the interest.

After keeping one for myself and then sending one to Mr.Selleck
Ill offer the other few up for sale/auction.
Sorry, this isnt a mass production thing. Which is why the quality will be way above par (I believe) by typical industry standards.
I basically started out doing this figure for me because I knew none of the big companies would ever do it.
Or if they did certainly not at the level of detail I wanted.
Example: The hat is on its third revision.
Im a detail nazi.
Sorry, no price yet.
Ill update the thread as it gets closer to being finalized.

Yes, Dave I sense the feelings of covetousness welling up within you.
You want what I have. Your coveting makes you powerful! Only by striking me down
(or alternately paying me in appropriate sums of American currency)
can you have what you desire. Only then will your journey
to the darkside be...oh wait...youre already a darklord. My Bad.

Talk to you guys soon.

Oh, ok thanks (Ill go to bed after I post this)
Yeah, Im the project coordinator and finacier and
I guess to a lesser degree, marketer.
About eight highly talented peoples skills are being employed
on this custom figure. I did not sculpt nor paint the likeness.
I did the most difficult part however, I payed for it:rolleyes:
If this blossoms into something else or at least pays for itself or even
heaven forbid turn into profit, Ill be happy.
I just dont see the bigger companies doing the figures I want so
I do a balancing act of doing something I want, something others want
and hope a company doesnt beat me to it.
Example: I almost commissioned a Ripley sculpt.
Then found out HT was going ahead. Bought the Loose pulse rifles etc.
Now Im gambling on another persona...
Love your avatar by the way. Coolest Ive seen.
Catch ya next time.

Do you do other projects/commissions as well?

Other projects are in the works. Ive commisioned a weapon I believe
some want to purchase. But another cinema based character is being started
by my same group. Sorry for being cryptic but its the nature of the "hobby"
to have someone beat you to the punch even if your good about holding your
cards close to the vest. The Quigley "sneek peeks" were done in Corel Painter
in a few hrs.
...So very sleepy...

Seeya next time.
