I think that's overstating it just a tad. R2 may be more popular, but C-3PO is still plenty popular by himself. In any case, I don't really see the inclusion of C-3PO causing them to lose out on a bunch of sales by any means. I personally would prefer having them posed together, since it gives them more personality than when posed alone (there's only so much you can do with the pose for either droid).

You're right. I grossly overstated it. He would make an amazing PF.

And I really want 3PO as a 12" figure. I would not want a 1:6 R2 without him. But I'm much more strict with PF's.

Thanks for setting me straight.

Well, this video is years old so it's long before Medicom even started making VCDs, plus the VCD is less than half that size.

I was wondering that too, but the pose is identical. That is not too hard though considering R2 really had 2 main poses.

Yeah, that's really the problem when it comes to identifying any particular piece, since R2 really only has two "poses" (middle leg up and middle leg down). I guess you could also include the "standing on tiptoe" pose from when he was looking into Yoda's hut, but I don't think any pieces have been made with that.

Also add a flying pose which is jets out and middle leg facing backwards.

As per earlier, if they make C-3PO and R2 as a combined PF then they lost my sale. I will only buy a R2-D2 PF if it is him alone. They also need to hurry up because my money is sitting here waiting for the R2 Maquette from GG if it ever gets produced. :)

True, although I had assumed that they would be making an original trilogy R2.

You could also include things like "antenna up" "grabber arm out" too, I suppose. The Gentle Giant statue is supposed to have a variety of options in that way.

I would love something like this in 1/4 scale:

That's the pose I like too Tom. I think they would look okay posed individually like that too. That way for people who want one they can have it and the bases can interlock for people who want both.

Magnetically attached restraining bolts could be a neat exclusive.

I always looked at this Koto and for some reason passed it up. Even when it was 50% off. Mostly, it was the inconsistent size with all the other Kotos, but it also always bugged me for some reason. I just realized after looking at this post that it seems as if 3PO's arms are disproportionately long. It looks like if he held his hands down to his sides without the limiters, his hands could scratch his knees. Is it just the image and the pose? Or is it actually like that in person?

Looks fine to me in person. In any case, I really like this piece. It's the best 3PO I have so far, although I agree that the scale issue was unfortunate. Got it for $50 from Redfordfilms.com but I think they're sold out now.

From the New Year's Q&A:

We are looking at the Droids for possible inclusion in one of our lines, beyond Life-Size. We’re not ready to make promises, but it is something we’re looking at. Star Wars 12-inch in 2009 is definitely more focused on the armored side of Star Wars.

So I take this as good news for those wanting PF droids. This little blurb sounds to me like they are doing troopers this year in the 12" line and so maybe we will finally see the droids in 1:4 scale. They have been mentioned as potential future releases from the very early days of the PF line and I have been waiting patiently since 2005 to see them announced. I know that Chewbacca is almost an impossibility, but the droids seem feasible and my OT PF collection is really starting to feel incomplete without them.

I've never hoped you were more right than with this statement
