Such is Life - Ned Kelly
Got mine today. He's a great figure straight out of the box. Can't wait for the bike to arrive, hopefully next week.
The jacket is ace, in fact his whole outfit is really nice. I even think the plastic gauntlets work. I wish they had made the plumb out of metal as well as his spikes. The spikes on my ones shoulders aren't spaced that well and have drooping points. For me, it detracts from the look. Are everyones shoulder spikes spaced like that? At least it's the same on both sides, maybe it's mean to be like that. I hope to replace the zipper tag with something smaller down the track. They only needed to go a little bit further with this to make it outstanding, like smaller zipper tag, a leather belt, metal spikes, a moving jaw, more neck articulation and leather boots. May as well throw the electrics into the mix.
After filling out his jacket I found his 'cosmetic back/chest brace' really hindered his look, especially around his rear lower rib cage, accentuating the gap around his arm sockets. So I removed it and am having a ball padding him up. Also, removing his brace allows a marginal improvement in his neck articulation.I can see it's going to take some time to get it to look right. Even with the brace removed he looks like he has a block under the back of his jacket. So I used 1/4 inch/5cm thick foam, much the same as Natrix. I made a sort of a vest out of it, double thickness from armpits across his back, and used the flame mane to hold it all in place. Again reducing his neck articulation. I am going to have to make a yoke. Haha uh oh. Hmmm, maybe this one is better.
It's definitely something to do with the jacket tailoring, that is making his shoulders look so sloped. It's like his shoulder epaulets are stitched too far toward the back. I used a sturdy piece of wood around the back of his neck, under his mane and ontop of his shoulders to try to remedy this.
I have found that mine doesn't want to stand too well. His joints are tight enough, it's his boots not being particulary flat that appears to be the problem. More playing to be done.
This figure is fun. Can't wait for his cycle to arrive. Get to see what he looks like with his feet up on the forward controls. It's hard to see in the pics. I know the Hasbro GeeRider is smaller, so that probably makes medicom's look a little out of scale, but with the extended forks and wild rake, I think it wont be so noticeable. Thanks to everyone that posted in this thread, it's been very helpful. Especially Edwints' pics. You did a great job with those. I say more pics. Seeing mine makes me appreciate Edwints even more.
I'll have to check out the film more closely, over the Easter weekend, for sure.
