Hi, just wondering if anyone's had any experience recasting a that's my face head 3d printed head sculpt?

i heard that the quality of their heads is a bit "rough" and the sculpt itself of limited accuracy, so maybe if a mold was created and filled with clay it could be smoothed and reworked?

I see, would any mold material work? and definitely wax to cast?

If you decide to cast in wax, keep in mind that it shrinks quite a bit. Usually about 10-15% depending on the type of wax. The shrinkage is also the worst horizontally (left-to-right) so your face looks squished from the sides. I used to sculpt in wax and that is the thing I hate the most about it because you really have to plan ahead and overcompensate for shrinkage.

And if I am not mistaken, they use a color ZCorp 3D Printer that has standard heads that they print your picture onto. So the likeness is really in the photo and not the sculpt. So getting an almost bland bald head with ears, a nose and eyes doesn't do much and you'll have to really sculpt and adjust to match your likeness.

oh, that's too bad... I'm a newbie at sculpting, so I thought I could 'cheat' by using the printed head would match at least the rough proportions of the photo, since you have to give it all the points/distances for the facial features.

thanks for the info and also the tip about the wax.
