I agree that if you pay for a collectible that the box should arrive in as good of condition as the figure. I understand that keeping them in those little shipping boxes probably saves a ton of money and storage for them, and may make shipping cheaper. But that you have to pay 2X the shipping to get a guaranteed mint box is pretty ridiculous.

I have a question for you guys. Which carrier brought your Aragorn 12"?

Mine's coming Fed Ex but I thought all orders under $100 were coming UPS because Fed Ex wouldn't cover all the damages. I wonder if this has any part to play in the fact that SS isn't sending out additional boxes.

Well my Aragorn just arrived and I'm almost ashamed to say he's in perfect shape. Very little damage to the outer box and his box is pristine.

That's interesting. I would check with the shipper. I've received over 30 12" Sideshow figures direct from Sideshow and probably 10 or so from Retailers and knock on wood I have never had one arrived damaged. And that's taking a week coming west to east. But you know what that means, since I've written this post, Aragorn's going to be destroyed. LOL

Sounds like you need to break out the secret UPS cam next time you are having something delivered.

Mine came through UPS, and so far I've had better luck (Knocks on wood) with them then FedEx. But, I still get the bowed sides and dings here and there.

So far, mine have come in good shape, but we'll see how my SDCC Sith Anakin will show up at the door. My lucky streak might be broken.

*knocks on wood*

Well this is bad news if Sideshow is not sending replacement boxes anymore. I have all of my 12" Star Wars shipping double boxed and have yet to have a problem since getting Sith Anaking crushed. Thats when I made the switch. I also finally got to make my own replacement for my exclusive Anakin. The box I had bought through a retailer had their magnets in backwards and it wouldnt close so I already had a regular box in perfect condition so I got them to get me a sticker and I made my own replacement box.

As for LOTR Aragorn arrived and he was not double boxed but thankfully he was ok. I believe I will email them before Legolas ships to make sure he gets double boxed.

I don't mind my other SS pieces have beat up boxes, like PF figures. I display my PF figures out of the box anyway. But the 12 inch figures have the plastic window which is why I display them in there boxes. And having a figure with a crushed box just ruins my display.

Before Star Wars and LOTR I havent really had that many problems with 12 inch boxes, but lately its been a mess.
