So I'm looking to upgrade my camcorder from my old school camcorder I bought seven years ago that uses DVDs to the newer HD, flash memeory based camcorders. Any suggestions / recommendations?

I agree. Between cell phones and digital cameras, the camcorder is becoming obsolete.

I pretty much use my iPhone at the moment. Gets the job done and it's easy to transfer, file-wise.

If you still want a camcorder, I've had good luck with Sony products, but haven't used one in years.

Then what do you need a camcorder for? :lol

For the price, it really is a nice all-around media device. Unless your looking for professional video and quality, I really think it's the next best thing.

I've always wondered about the HD Flip Recorders, etc. etc. I know a lot of those 'fads' faded quick though.

You guys (particularly Chapter 2099) bring up an interesting point. The advent of smart phones with their ever-increasing technology may be making camcorders obsolete (like they did with the flip camera). But I think that there are some reasons why camcorders are still useful, particular the better zoom.

I'm asking because I'm taking my family to Disneyworld later this week. I took them two years ago for Christmas, and it was a pain switching DVDs. Was looking for a better camcorder.
