What do you mean? 8,000 is still an EXTREMELY limited number for a collectible "Star Wars" toy.

To give you some perspective... those 'Exclusive' Hasbro action figures that the diehard SW collectors crap their pants over and lose hours of their lives while literally running all over each other to obtain? Limited to 50,000 units each. Yes, that was FIFTY-thousand.

This Han 12" is a gazillion times better SW product than the "Lava Vader" figure and there was only 20% as many made (including both SSC Exclusives and Regular Editions).

Sure, the exclusive figures only cost about $10-15 a pop and the 3.75" collectors are nuts. But still... there are at least 50,000 of each of those suckers out there. And that is considered very limited among collectors.

That only makes it more pressing to capture the Exclusive versions in the future. It's official: SSC has got the Hasbro sickness for sure. :yuck

Still with 8000 is not that many in the grand scheme of things. Hasbro would often produce 50000 of some of their 12". I think that Sideshow has found how many they can sell and I dont see any problem with them meeting the demand of the comsumers.

Honestly to me thats the point of Regular version. If you worried about the # of figures get the exclusive. To me thats the point of the exclusive. The regular is for people who just want the figure. If you have an issue with 9999 of you fellow collectors getting an item then you should seriously rethink why you collect. If you are collecting as an investment the best of luck to you but you can do much better with stocks, bonds, etc..

As long as I get one I really dont care if 49 other people have it or 49999 other people have it......SS can make 100,000 Han Solos and I'll be happy.

I'll never understand dudes who are butthurt about an edition size. Who cares?

Amen!

I'm happy with large edition sizes as it means its likely I'll be able to pick up spares for mod-fodder!

Exactly. I say the more the merrier; that way more people get as much fun from their figures as I do! I say if somebody wants one, they should be able to get one. Then everybody's happy! :D

It certainly bodes well for the line. And to keep it in perspective, these numbers are no where near the rumored edition sizes when SSC product was sold in Spencers, Suncoast, Tower, etc.

Those who don't care about the collectible itself but about it's value.

I don't wish to stir the crap pot but what the heck...

If the edition sizes are so large then shouldn't the figure prices reflect that as well? Wasn't one of the main reasons for the higher price on the SS figures due to the limited number of figures manufactured and subsequently sold?

$60.00 for a 12" figure limited to an ES of 5000 I can understand. But $60.00 for 12" figure limited to an ES of 10,000 starts to blur that whole "Limited Edition" description.

Plus, SS is selling most of these directly at MSRP which is cutting out the middle-man and thus making them additional cash-o-la.

And with higher edition sizes come more quality control issues, as has been the case with some of their LOTR poly pieces. (paint issues and repairs being glossed over, for example.)

Really? I thought "collectible" was in the eye of the beholder. In other words, if it's part of a collection... it's a collectible.

Exactly. It seems that so many people only think of collectibles as investments, and not what they truely are, something that you enjoy having. I can't say that it is all there fault since so many of us,myself included will pay above retail for items that we may have missed.
