Old subject. Discussed to death. Those that "want" should "get". Those that "don't want" should "move on."

mmmmm..... hot dogs marinated in spicey Philippino vinegar.:drool

Another thought I had.
I would bet that those people who want the small editions would be the same people that would be crying if they did not get it. Take a look at the Grey Hulk, so many people wanted it and did not get it. Then some were upset due to that fact they increased the number sold to fix a small mistake made at comic-con when it could have easily have been them who got cancled sue to the mistake and then all hell would habe broke lose. But then they get upset that people have them on ebay starting at a grand. People you cant have it both ways. I understand the coolness to have something very few people have but if thats what you want you need to be willing to deal with the fact you dont get something, not complain someone is flipping it and anything else.

Sorry I have to much time on my hands right now, I has LASIK a couple days ago and I am not working the rest of the week.

Well, here we go again with another "let's bash the people who prefer low edition sizes" thread, where a bunch of people make gross (and pathetically wrong) assumptions and generalizations about them.

Whoopie.

Yup. Like I said. Discussed to Death.

This is definitely one of those "I'm a little bit country... I'm a little bit rock n' roll" debates. While I may err on the side of not caring about edition sizes, we all like the figures and enjoy them so it's probably not necessary for every other thread to turn into this :duff

"* SSC Star Wars completists have ordered some $5,170.83 worth of product (plus tax, shipping) so far."

The problem is it's worth far less now that is shipped.

Speaking for myself, I'm really glad I don't worry about whether or not my collectibles retain their value. This way I can enjoy them for what they are and not as $ signs.

That being said, if someone collects because of its value is also fine by me. We all know that this can be an expensive hobby... I can see how some would like their figures to be worth something. I just hope it doesn't detract from their enjoyment of those figures.

Over time all of these will for the most part increase in value. Think about how much you could buy star wasrs items at garage sales etc... 20 years ago. You could have got then for probally less then a buck a peice. It seems that all items go down at first and then over time will increase. So when it comes to value are you looking for the future or just trying to make a quick buck.

I agree. I think as far as some who collect for the long term value (also something which, though I don't do it, I have no problem with others doing it) if you are a complaing about losing value in a piece that has only been out less than a year, perhaps you aim collecting should be the flip or the instant gratification, because over time even the most worthless junk becomes priceless. :D

Hoooooooly Crap TOE. Yes. Marinate them in the stuff (Datu Puti: Sukang Maanhang*, is the exact brand. You can prolly find it in most asian markets) and then either grill them or BBQ them, stick em on a stick and yum.

*Datu Puti is the company and "Sukang Maanhang" is just pinoy for Spicey Vinegar. Its easy to make and sooooooo deeliseeyose as they say. ;)

Sorry to hijack.

...okay, back to topic :chew

You have to consider how much the license is to SS, they do have to pay Lucasfilm, and let's face it...SW ain't a cheap license.

I don't wish to stir the crap pot but what the heck...

If the edition sizes are so large then shouldn't the figure prices reflect that as well? Wasn't one of the main reasons for the higher price on the SS figures due to the limited number of figures manufactured and subsequently sold?

$60.00 for a 12" figure limited to an ES of 5000 I can understand. But $60.00 for 12" figure limited to an ES of 10,000 starts to blur that whole "Limited Edition" description.

Plus, SS is selling most of these directly at MSRP which is cutting out the middle-man and thus making them additional cash-o-la.

And with higher edition sizes come more quality control issues, as has been the case with some of their LOTR poly pieces. (paint issues and repairs being glossed over, for example.)

I personally never order a fig thinking about the production run but, the fact that the Han I ordered is one of 2,000 is pretty damn sweet to me.

I think its a plus, but that's it.
