hmm - I don't see the need to overcharge for shipping. Most if not all auction I ever bid on put "Actual shipping to be paid by buyer" and may or may not involve a "handling fee" to cover the costs to actually wrap it up and send it on top - with the handling fee noted in the description. I've had people estimate shipping before hand, and its only been significantly wrong once, and that person offered me the chance to back out as they had provided incorrect info.

As I'm not in the US most of what I buy regarding collectibles I do have to ask for a quote.

Also another reason not to pay overcharged shipping is that the shipping cost IS NOT included in any protection scheme that is offerred by either ebay or paypal.

This isn't really about whether or not it is right or ethical to overcharge for shipping. It is about whether or not a bidder has the responsibility to understand and agree to whatever charges are stated in an auction prior to placing a bid. If you think a seller is overcharging, don't bid.

Just had 2 items arrive from the USA from the same seller on ebay, when I bid on them he wouldnt give me combined shipping because I bought them a day apart, fair enough I stumped up the £120 dollars shipping to the UK ($60 each), however when they arrived the receipt they came together and total cost was $71, so he had combine the shipping and profited by $50. I emailed him and said this was unfair he gave me a refund of $35 which in all Im happy with,so iyou can always dispute it but always read the full page amd ask the seller they may drop prices if you have had stuf shipped before.
