I usually don't give a sh** about how actors shape up for film roles, but Bale is one of my favorites in this generation, and what he's doing to get into "shape" for the upcoming boxing biopic The Fighter just seems dangerous. I was reading a hilarious a list of ^^^^ty SDCC things on Latino Review when I stumbled upon this:

:horror:horror
I mean, look at him:

I don't know if he followed the same weight loss regimen that he used in preparation for The Machinist (he ate nothing but apples and smoked cigs), but...damn. Just look at his thinning hair.

Also, Bale is a method actor, and the character he is playing in The Fighter is a drug addict....so...

Dedication, but is it worth it? he's sharing screen time with Mark Wahlberg, and I don't know if Bale is the leading role.

His commitment to his craft is admirable, but I think he's done enough with his body that he needs to call it quits, he lost so much for the machinist, then shortly after put a boatload on for Batman Begins. It's not like being overweight and burning down to a healthy level, he goes to extremes and I'm sure it's bad for the body, maybe not, I can't imagine him doing it without consulting someone, but maybe he's that nuts he does it and doesn't care.

He tries too hard imo. Also his hair looks fine, its just a bad pick. He's a very good actor but nothing legendary worthy ................. again he just tries too hard. Kinda like Will Smith ........... except Bale isn't as annoying. :D

At least De niro got an Oscar for his efforts in Raging Bull. Bale tries too hard for lesser material. He's still relatively young, and he'll no doubt broaden his acting range, but he can't continue doing this.

He looked awful at the Public Enemies premiere. I think starving yourself like that is worse than putting on weight. I just hope he has a doctor who is supervising his health. If I were his wife I would be ^^^^^ing! :lol

Are those acid washed jeans? J/K. He always seems very dedicated w/ each role. It was strange seeing him in the Mech. w/ all the weight he lost.

Holy ^^^^ man, that is not what a boxer looks like, not even a starving, out of work one.

He looks worse then Steve Jobs did when we found out he had cancer.

I believe it's a photo from the set.
Hair is a make-up.
The rest is real :)

You guys do know that he's playing a washed up drug addicted former boxer right? He looks nowhere near as bad as the Machinist weight. His hair was made to look like that for the character.
