Removing the cap of the neck joint from heads.

Hey guys. Does anyone know if there is a way for me to remove the cap of the neck joint from the head without destroying the head?? I have the Superman: Clark Kent and the Superman head's cap is at the base of the head. I want to take it out and drill out the hole a little bit so that the cap of the joint sinks deeper into the head.

Soak it in hot water for a minute or so. Then, if needed, I use the dull side of a butter knife to wedge it out.

Hair dryer works too, if I'm understanding you correctly.
