Finally got around to actually taking some photos of Leon with my actual camera! Still one of my favorite figures from last year:

I also picked up some cheap extension tubes that can turn your normal lens into a macro lens. It's really awesome to see the detail in the paintwork up close.

I'll be adding more pics on my Instagram if anyone is interested: https://www.instagram.com/fatcatcollects/

What lens did you use? I'm curious...

Honestly I would rather have them reissue kits than a full figure. Thats just me tho…. After the 2.0 release the extra Ada clothing set I just left in the box. If they offered the extra sculpts and dress I would’ve gone that route instead of getting the full figure. Having extra accessories is nice… if they’re charging $200+ so sure give us extra accessories. But kits would be nicer especially since I store the extra accessories away.

The red suit of ada 2.0 although it looks the same as the 1.0 has many improvements. The sweater is somewhat wider, the boots are more stable and larger, the upper harness is made of a more resistant material and comes with a magnet for the machine gun... Adding the improvement of face paint and accessories, I think we would want this 2.0 in any character.

Anyway... who can't say no to more Ada? 😜

What body is that Ada on?

Honestly, releasing Ashley first was a very stupid move by MT Toys...
If you're going to release several figures of a line, start with the main characters. That should be a given. Then many people will add the companions. But who on earth buys a companion first if you can't be sure to ever get the main characters? :dunno

Yes, Ashley and Leon getting the same Ada 2.0 treatment would definitely be preferable!
Then maybe I'd even double dip and buy a second Leon.

But you know why companies to that, right? :naughty Because they know exactly that we're going to hate them for it but will still buy it anyway and even be grateful for it in the end! :lol We're those kind of suckers after all... :blissysmi
I said that back when they first announced 🤣 I said it was stupid to release Ashley before Leon and stupid to release Ada before separate ways but i guess it worked for them they sold Ada twice.

I’d double dip on a Leon 2.0, and il finally get an Ashley if it’s a 2.0 and improved.
I’d only consider a reissue for Leon and even then that figure it’s too inaccurate for me to double dip so il probably hope for the sculpt and pistol parted out to stick on a suit for the intro look.

They can only get away with it for so long. I actively try to avoid Asmus products after getting burned with the DMC line and all the 2.0’s. And they are easy to avoid because I think “ I’d just wait for the improved 2.0” the back to back Dante 2.0’s had me so mad

If yall really wanting an Ashley there’s still that upcoming SuperDuck set. :dunnoThere’s also been all those swtoys parts have been parted out on eBay and other 1/6 stores.

True, it doesn't feel so great when you've spent good money on a figure only for it to be released again shortly after as a better version. Only consolation: with prices as crazy as they are nowadays, it's often possible to sell the 1.0 at cost on eBay and just buy the 2.0 if it's really worth it to you... but that's too complicated for some, I get that.
Still, I like to give the companies the benefit of the doubt since - as far as I've seen - the 2.0s actually fixed problems of the initial version that fans mentioned, like Dante and his pants and arms, Ada and her boots + dress and people struggling to find the right body for her...
If people complain and the company improves accordingly, then I don't think there's any malicious intent behind it. Unless it's SWToys! There's always some degree of malicious intent involved with SWToys! .... otherwise you just can't explain those tiny boots on most of their figures... :monkey4

For all those pics, I used a Sigma 30mm f/1.4 on my A6700 (crop sensor). The macro close up was using a 10mm extension tube from Amazon to get in tighter.
Awesome! I got a a64000 recently with a Sony 35mm 1.8 and I was afraid it would not be good for figure photography. I still don't have a light setup to test. Which 100 extension tube did you got?

Nice! The A6400 is a great camera and the 35mm will work great as a 52.5mm full frame equivalent, great for full body shots. With the extension tube, you can get really really close as well.

Ideally, I’d use more of a portrait lens like something between 56mm-85mm, but I have a pretty small makeshift studio so I don’t have the room to stand that far away from the figure.

Honestly, the lighting matters more than the gear. Have your camera on a tripod, low ISO and longer shutter speed to reduce noise, with a soft light source close to the figure.

This is the tube kit I got, but I only used the 10mm one for that photo:

I’m very open to characters getting multiple versions. We got an early game Leon with jacket and the shotgun, now for the 2.0 give us a mid to endgame Leon with vest and riot gun instead. That way both the 1.0 and 2.0 has value. When it’s the literally the same but better I really dislike that.

DMC5 Dante 2.0 is just that same but better despite Dante have a prologue and main game look. Switching up the expression, hair length and accessories would give value to both versions

Not to mention Dante 2.0 was only released as the expensive luxury edition unlike the 1.0 that had a standard edition.

Minimal effort for max price that purposefully screws over supporters of the 1.0 so they feel compelled to double dip.

I’m still giving MToys the benefit of the doubt but we will see how they treat later releases
